LH product lineup - request for guide.
« on: June 04, 2014, 10:38:03 PM »

Can one of pirate mates who's close to LH walk me through all of most of their products, the options, etc.

I am seriously getting confused with their product lineup. Pulse, Geek, Wave, Dildo, Dork, Stud, Dudette, etc. Gavin / Larry - don't take this the wrong way please, but if I am confused, I'm sure there are many others. This is really not too different from the Eddie Current lineup with the 2A3mk2, 2A3mk4, 4-45, BA 300B, BA 2A3/45, ZDSE, etc where I've had to explain to others what the differences were. In fact, I still think I need to do a writeup.

So can someone make a comprehensive guide or matrix on features, intended use, functionality, femto clock upgrades, etc.?

Thanks

Geek...

Out-USB DAC/Amp stick available in different output power levels

Pulse-Discrete desktop DAC with HO available in various flavors, SE, Balanced, power supplies, femto, etc.

Wave-standlone DAP with various options; S version requires external streaming content and control in tandem with a smartphone (not stand alone).

Air (I think)-aptX streamer

Sire-Baby Da Vinci DAC

Sire-Baby Da Vinci DAC

Correction: Sire is the $120k DAC that's like the ultimate Da Vinci :)

so the high ends DACs go:

Da Vinci - $20k, regular awesome DAC
Da Vinci Dual - $31k , adds a separate DSD DAC section to the Da Vinci
Sire - $120k, their new statement DAC for audiophiles in China with ridiculous amounts of cash

I'll come up with a full list and some explanation soon. Here is the product list of Geek products with information for now:

Out: USB bus-powered DAC/amp, 450/750/1000 mW power variants, low-power (iDevice-friendly) 100 mW under development, power preamp version (Nano?) under consideration (this one doesn't make any fucking sense)

Pulse: Desktop-sized DAC/amp, comes in single chip/single-ended (Pulse), dual mono/single-ended (Pulse S), dual mono/balanced (Pulse X) variants

LPS: linear power supply intended to enhance the Pulse and other devices. Two variants that power one device (LPS) or four (LPS4).

Blue: Desktop Apt-X/A2DP BT streamer

Air: 802.11 streamer, (probably) will do DSD streaming like Auralic

Wave: BT-connected DAP with advanced controls via iOS/Android app, single chip/single-ended 160 mW variant (Wave 32/64/128), single chip/balanced 320 mW variant (Wave X 128), dual mono/balanced 450 mW variant (Wave XD 128)

Stream (formerly called Wave S): portable iOS/Android/PC battery-powered DAC/amp, Apt-X/A2DP BT streaming, can recharge smartphones (?), probably same chip/power variants as the Wave

LightSpeed 1G/2G (informally called Junior): cable with more bandwidth than necessary

Da Vinci: Renaissance artist/inventor

Sire: Daddy

I wish they'd named the company something less derogatory. I'm curious about the Wave, but disinclined to explain it to the people at work who already think it's weird that I'm wearing something other than iBuds or Beats.

Maybe I should wait till S***** makes a DAP. But at least they'd use a discreet S logo and give it a nifty Norse name. Unless they double down and call it the POS.  :)p17

I think you're confusing the company name of Light Harmonic with the "Geek" line of products.

I thought that Sire article was a tongue in cheek joke at audiophiles like the 20 driver item.

Wasn't the impression I got talking at the Show though we could have misunderstood each other.

Always though of it as Scion/Lexus.  Whatever, there's a baby Da Vinci.

Where do you work that the word "geek" is too off-color for their delicate sensibilities?

It reminds me of a girl I met who was raised to think that the word "disgusting" was a swear. "Say yucky instead", she told me.

In other news, I ponied up for a Geek Wave. It better be good or I'm going to impotently shake my fist in the air. Don't think I won't.

Has anyone here heard a Geek Wave?
(Currently tempted by the 32 GB model. My iPod Classic is trusty...but it's also just an iPod Classic. A 5 year-old Classic.)
