My assumption is that the lower tiers are the best bang/buck in the product lines they've put out and the rest follow the rule of diminishing returns quite a bit.

That being said, I totally am going all in for a fully kitted build for my UERMs. I want the ultimate fucking player for these things.

I'd greatly appreciate it if someone would explain the benefit of all the bells and whistles for the Wave because they don't. I'm also worried about the Sabre sizzle.

Jeez. Charlie Foxtrot is alive and well and living in Sacto.

Wake me when they have a product line and a supply chain.

Geek Out 450 is an excellent product, but all this soap opera is just making me crabby.

I'll re-engage at some point. Stream sounds like a viable alternative to Herus for use with iOS devices. When I can log in with a credit card, buy one, and have some assurance of receiving it in less than seven months, I'll probably buy one.

Someday this will be an MBA program case study on how not to do market research and build a brand.

Ok, I caved and got a 32. But... They increased that limited run for, what, the 3rd time? It's currently at 180 max now.

Well I'm sure some guy next year is going to sell their XD for the price that they paid for or less; I'll wait til then. For now, the sabre treble ain't too bad as long as I don't use the uha-6s with the dx90.

For those who've heard the prototype Wave or the Geek Out, any issues with high-end IEMs? Background hiss/noise that's above the norm for portables?

And for the more technically inclined, are the IEM and THD perks gamechangers, or something the audiophile layman wouldn't really notice even with good 'phones?

Read: it's bullshit. Ho's already claimed better measurements than the AK240 for the Wave prototype and that A&K already has an inaudible noise floor with IEMs. An extra 5db below that isn't going to make it any more inaudible, nor is a switch from .001% THD to .0005% THD going to be worth a damn.

These upgrades are how you make money from audiophiles while marketing a "value" product. They're selling "peace of mind" to neurotics.

...wait, that might actually make sense for you

With very sensitive IEMs, the Geek Out 450 has some hiss, (Shure 5X0) but my UERM and JH13 have no hiss. With the "3D...." feature, there is noise that they are working on fixing via firmware update.
