WTF is up with the LH Labs Verb?
« on: July 29, 2015, 08:24:59 PM »

I've been meaning to ask about these.  I won them in a raffle at the last meet I was at.  I haven't been able to find anything they sound decent with.  They're way too bloated, muddy, and dull.  They make my XB700s sound clear, lean, and resolving.   :-00

They don't fit well at all either.  The only way I can get them to seal is some triple flanges off another pair of IEMs.

Casey can chime in, but I had heard that supposedly the OEM did the ole Shanghai shuffle switcheroo from the original prototype.

Craig has actually had this happen with a bulk transformer order he did during Super7 development. Prototype measured and sounded great, actual order fulfillment not so hot.

Well, we did say that you'd have plenty of...words to say about them ;)  And across many parts of speech!

Interjections, such as "I just spent the last four hours listening to these Verbs. ______!"

Verbs, such as "I can't believe how much these Verbs _____."

Adverbs, such as "These Verbs have a very _____ sound."

Nouns, such as "These Verbs sound like _____."

or even Adjectives, "I don't think that the verbs could sound any ______ musical."

Fill in your own choice words to make a review of your own!

That's got to be disappointing...

I'm going to resist the temptation to be any meaner than I already have...

No you won't. You are entitled to your opinion about any vendor on this forum. We do have a more specific thread in the vendor forums if you care to elaborate and want to give them an opportunity to address any concerns or improve.

I personally am not the biggest fan of some of the marketing, spam or the overall biz model myself. There have been CS hiccups and various other stumbling blocs for sure too. That said, I've never had a personal experience with Gavin or anyone else at LH that would give me cause to feel that way. Personally, I have spent a couple grand on LH products myself from my own pocket and have only had about half of that fulfilled thus far. I suppose I could be pissed off if I wanted to, but I've experienced all these things with other audio companies long before crowd-sourcing ever came about. Gavin is a marketing guy and often times they have a job to do which very rarely can make everyone happy. I've never had Gavin BS or lie to my face the way some other REALLY big current hot-topic names in audio have, so that level of emotional displacement seems a little strong to me.

Is this because of Gavin as a person or because of his status as the person who signs all of the updates and announcements telling you unpleasant things about shipping dates, upgrades and the like?

I hate to break it to you, but most of these companies are run by regular folks who are generally pretty nice.

In the case of LH, I'm friends with Larry, Gavin, and Casey and can tell you they are all super friendly guys who, honestly, are very interested in doing cool shit for their customers despite what hearsay you may be hearing on the internets. I can understand your frustration, but I've interacted with actual real-life sleaze bags in both my work and personal life enough to tell you you're pretty far off base.

I must concur with your opinion ZD. I have met all three of these people and have no reason to believe otherwise.

@StunEvilKeenevil - If you've had a less than stellar experience with LH Labs personnel, I'd be more than happy to look into what's causing your concerns.  Feel free to reach out to me anytime on the Geek Force forum or via PM here on Changstar.
