Jackie Fuchs was part of The Runaways, an iconic rock girl group in the 70s. Her manager raped her in front of a room full of people and the story is just coming out now.

I realized that in California, I cannot exercise my 2nd amendment right to defend myself against mountain lions, bears, rattlesnakes, wierdos, etc. while on hiking trails.

You mean rape whistles don't work on mountain lions? Someone linked a 'study' the other day showing a rock is 5% more effective for SD than a gun at reducing property loss. Obviously you don't know anything about science!

So, a story about a 16 year old who is unconscious and raped by her manager in front of a room full of people makes you think if only GUNS were there, they would have saved her?

There are a lot of responses possible to that, but maybe I should ask why guns are even coming up?

I'll start a thread on research on the extreme rarity of gun use for self-defense, since it seems to be of interest.

Oh, and leave mountain lions alone, Marv. They are endangered and should be able to snack on anyone they please.

I wish every parent would at least give their kid a solid foundation in self-defence skills taught by a teacher who emphasises self-control, respect & manners and kicking serious ass when perverts and violent idiots target them.

Guns are weapons you have to control. Control starts in the mind and extends to the body and peripherals. I do not want to read about more Malala's and sexual abuse victims. I want to read about victims who kick ass and stand up for themselves. The scandals through the years, from dirty priests to a glib Bill Cosby disgust me and get on my nerves.

We need more He-Mans and She-Ras to teach aggressors and perverts a lesson. If politically correct society want victims to only depend on the state and police well fuck that society. If politically correct society wants to reduce me to a victim I shall have to fight back and kick ass (as politely as possible).

Recently I was in a situation in which the (Dutch) police could have apprehended a violent stalker and criminal who was threatening me (among others) at my doorstep. I called them and they could not help "because procedures."

I stop here before I get too angry...

Btw, we already have a few gun threads. If you would try reading or searching around you'd know that. Also you wouldn't barge into the shoutbox and links to 'studies' I already linked to and discussed prior. You're just completely out of your depth due to bias.

There is no 'study' possible that would prove an innocent person is better off defenseless against a vicious more powerful and/or armed attacker. Go pull your head out of your ass and play clash of clans or Civ. Might learn something.
