Well this was unexpected... My first post on HF wasn't a god damn question.  p:8

Instead of the P"4" the new Samsung M1's are out in Korea for sale. It hasn't been released anywhere else because... they just want their most up to date technology kept to themselves, just like their Anycall and CYON phones from Samsung and LG respectively. The M1 has improved 100fold from the P3, but that can just be my bias. It's much better than the Cowon S9 in my opinion.

And then second post. Of course.

I've finally decided to buy a custom molded IEM after saving for months. I'm in the early stages of being an audiophile and have yet to be baptized by the holy music that spills out from each one of these gifts from God.

I listen to Ballad and KPop, but my preference is sad, slow songs. However, I am a Bass addict, although I don't think bass goes along well with ballad.

I currently own Audiotechnica CK10 and I really like it but it isn't comfortable anymore. I tried using triple flangs and I just can't get the right fit. If I laugh, the seal breaks and my sound turns into crap. I've yet to try sony hybrids. Is that worth getting? My right ear hole is slightly larger than my left...

Anywho, back to the JH and UEs.

As of right now, I don't know if I should go for flat/balanced or exaggerated. What do you suggest for the type of songs that I listen to?
I do go out a lot and I appreciate noise isolation because it's usually loud outside and what not; I do hear more bass will help with this problem.

Now, I've read UE Reference Monitors are super flat and accurate and I'm leaning towards those, but I did hear JH 13 Pros were pretty flat too, along with crisp mids/highs. Now I see that there's a new amp JH3A being offered as a bundle with the JH13 Pros, and comes to 1650. Are the amps worth it? I was going to get an amp anyways but not really super high ends. But seeing that the amps themselves are over a thousand bucks, I might as well go for the deal.
Now the soundstage... I don't know much about it, but I do like soundstage. Does the JH3A really improve soundstage for the JH13 Pro? Comparison between UE Refs?
Now, as for the exaggerated bass IEMs, I have the choice between JH 16 Pro and UE 18 Pro. In a comparison thread, the UE 18 Pro didn't score very well as opposed to the JH13 and 16. However, I do "prefer" UE because my favorite band has them (forgive me for my retardedness). Do the UE 18 Pro match my type of genre and noise isolation expectation? But then again, there's the JH 13 Pro with JH3A that would outplay the UE 18 Pros... or am I wrong?

Since JH Audio released JH3As, it would be sensible that UE would launch some type of amp too, right? I could wait until then and get those along with the UE Reference monitors (if you guys suggest getting flat over exaggerated for ballad)

Thank you for your time.

Cliffnotes:

-Flat or bass exaggerated for Ballad?
-JH3A worth getting or minimal difference compared to UE Ref?
-Soundstage of JH3A+JH13Pro vs. UE Reference
-Accurate UE Reference monitor  VS.  JH 13 Pro with JH3A Amp?
-JH 16 Pro vs. UE 18 Pro vs. JH13 Pro+JH3A
-More bass = better noise cancellation?
< br />I don't think I've changed much, have I?  poo

First post:

Asking recommendations to update my SRH440s! ;)
I lurked head-fi for more than a year before that though (i.e. I bought the 440s a year earlier or so based on recommendations and reviews I had read there.).

I will always hold the 440/840/940 in high regards!
The 1840s were a bit of a miss, especially in the pricing department, but I liked them.

I wonder if they will come with a new set of CLOSED headphones soon... hmmm...

Ear impression kits... that's an interesting topic for a whole thread here. Shall we start one? I have a bunch of questions and ideas, since none of the audiologists in Warsaw seem capable of very deep and accurate impressions. (One is capable of very deep, but inaccurate in outer ear, one is capable of very accurate, but not that deep. Two others are making junk.)

I've bumped into this thread a couple of times and have tried a couple of times to find my first post on Head-Fi unsucessfully.  I think there may be issues with the database curfuffle that happened a number of years ago.  As I recall I joined about two days after it started. The post was probably just saying "howdy, I'm here" greeting people who had fled from HeadWize.

Also when I click "show posts" on Head-Fi it limits out at 100 pages of posts and my history only goes back to '09. So no joy with that method.

Anyway, if someone knows how to find your first post I'd be curious.

But don't work on it too hard, I really don't give much of a shit but for being a little curious.

That 100 page thing must be new.  Couple weeks ago I was able to stalk myself back to when I first joined, now I can only go back a couple years.

Tyll's first post (that I could find): http://www.head-fi.org/t/143/which-is-the-best-sony-full-size-headphone-ever-made#post_1277

6/25/01

Sony headphones SUCK!

I appears to me that Sony builds headphones mainly to be efficient so that they sound good with gutless portable crap. Even on there pro side they make a lot of portable pro equipment, so they have to make efficient cans. You can't gain efficiency without giving up the damping needed to get headphones to snap into focus when driven well. In the pro world AKG has been the king forever.

For efficient phones they may be okay, but sorry, they don't have a phone that even comes close to being competative sonically in any price level comparison once you drive them with an amp.

Sorry, Sony could do way better. BTW someone asked why we don't carry Sony. It's because we can't commit to the volumes they want; we do black and white literature and sony requires that there product be advertised in color; and you've got to carry a lot ot different models. I think there are a couple of models that are pretty good and would like to carry them. And I think Sony's done some amazing stuff. But all in all it appears to me that they're out to spend money on ads, not on audio quality.

My first post:
http://www.head-fi.org/t/556292/m-audio-q40-vs-pro700-mk2-quest-for-the-best-bass/15#post_8167722

I have a Q40 with DT770 velour pads, and I've tried the PRO700 mk2. With the original pads, both headphones share similarities in the overemphasized bass. I didn't like either to be honest. With the velours on the Q40 however, the sound signature becomes more neutral and although the bass is still quite prominent, it became less impactful yet much more detailed (as in layers of bass that goes very deep). It felt like a proper studio monitor. I haven't tried changing the pads of the PRO700 MK2, but their sound is so overly colored that you have to want to specifically listen to their "sound" to enjoy them.
