it works on USB 3.0 ports but uses a USB 2.0 connection.

" Yggdrasil also features our all-new USB Gen 3 input module, for exceptional USB input performance. "

And yet my mac mini only detects a USB 2.0 connection.  Anyone got USB 3.0 working?

I *think* it remains USB 2.0. The board, however, is generation 3, which I think means the third iteration/version of their USB interface board. It remains, obviously compatible with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 sockets.

Well, I am quite curious if the programming parts of the multibit DAC implementation can be applied to delta-sigma DACs. Was this answered somewhere?

If Theta's history is any indication, be careful what you wish for.
Haha not sure what that means.

Just curious to what happened to Theta since from their current website the brand is still selling audio stuff but their newest stuff seemed to be based on delta-sigma.

Moffat left 25 years ago. Theta didn't know what to do without him. Gen 7 (Gen 6 was skipped) D-S was released 15 years after he left, or something crazy like that.

The USB Confusion!

USB 1, lost in the past, it was dreadful for audio. USB 2, probably still most people's standard. USB 3... much faster, and has blue plugs/sockets. Actually, faster than anything required for audio, but hey, I like blue.

USB Audio Class 1... IIRC only goes to 96KHz sample rate. USB Audio Class 2... does the higher sample rates which we don't need anyway (but another hey: believe in them or not, more and music files are going to be high-sample-rate).

At least with this class stuff, we are now talking audio. Windows (up to now? Windows 10?) only supports class 1 "native," which is why DACs come with their own drivers.

USB "Gen x..." This is just some schiit, isn't it? Brand specific to identify their own improving USB interfaces.

OK I will start  I kind of want a replacement for the gungnir that less wide (about the length of a macbook air) specs:
-1 AD R2R dac per channel
-usb gen 3
-close-form digital filter
-discrete JFET analog section
-good power supply that doesn't take forever to stabilize

AD1866? :P A 16 bit R2R DAC with a simplified version of the filter would still be pretty cool.

I wonder how much leaving the USB part out would save. $200? $300? For those of us that don't use or trust USB audio, that would skim some numbers off the price.

What I would like is for Schitt to consider a file player/DAC in one (similar to the Sony players, but with the ability to line out to a separate DAC). This would eliminate a lot of wires and performances based on suspect audio sources (PC's, CD players with questionable designs, etc).
