I thought about returning the R3. It does not sound that good with my Fiio X1 & E11 but it does with my Audinst AMP-HP & HIFIMEDIY Tiny DAC. Better soundstage is how I mainly perceive that combo. Since it sounds good with the latter and has a unique design,I'll hang on to it. I replaced it with the Narmoo S1 for mobile use. That iem  headbang with the Fiio X1 & E11. If it had the build quality of the R3,I am not sure many other dual dynamic drivers could f*ck with it. The T1E sure couldn't after comparing the two.

Weird synergy:The Brainwavz R3 and SMSL sApII. An iem and powerful desktop amp. The R3 sounds airy and lacks bass and the sApII has too much warmth for any headphone that I own. Together they sound halfway decent but only with jazz thus far.

I had to make space in my man purse this morning so I needed to ditch the brick and go low budget.

I reached into the long lost IEM box and pulled out the Monster turbines! Fed direct from the iPhone, not a bad rig for the noisy commute.  It took a little while to "get OK" with the big bass tilt, but by he time I reached work I was secretly enjoying the BOOM!

Does that count?

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Yep. It"s good to know that you can fall back on the BOOM! when you need to.

Made an impulse bid on Fostex T40RPMKII and won. I haven't owned a planar HP since an unsuccessful mod of a T20RPMKII. The T50RP is the one to mod but I am giving the T40 a shot because 1) I got it cheap and 2) I like the idea of making it sound to my liking.

The novelty of having a basshead can is starting to pass.

What did you do to the T40? (I'm assuming you drilled some holes into the cups at least)

Do you think there may be an acoustic leak from the jack hole? ~Tyll Hertsens

Not sure if I like stuffing one hole or both holes. Tending toward one hole since both holes seems kinda ghey ~Purrin

No holes drilled but I added some dampening. Sounds good so far but the one amp I would use with it,the SMSL sApII,is all of a sudden not working right. It just starts clipping and then fizzles out. It's weird because it has been idle most of this year. The search begins for another amp.

I finally figured out how to safely open the Realistic LV10/Loss HV-1. I just need to get up the nerve to solder a new cable on to it.

"Strictly speaking as a gal all of the headphones lack functionality. I don't care to have my hair messed up or have anything on my ears. I have Koss headphones but I don't wear them on my head. I lay them next to me and can hear just fine."
