The Omega I got my eyes on comes without the original box, do you guys think that's an issue? I'm thinking of using a pelican.

The one from D-Pak on head-fi, right?

The original case is mostly just important for collectors. It should be fine if you use a third party alternative. I'd ask him to ship it to you in a case of some sort just to add a layer of protection.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

It'll hurt resale value, so take that into account when making an offer.

How are you enjoying your new Orpheus system?  If you like that a lot then you'll like the Omega which shares similar traits:
- large, airy, open soundstage
- very similar midrange tonality
- fast and detailed

The Omega has more midbass kick than the HE90 but the HE90 retains more impact lower.  The HE90 has better treble I think.

MF - Yeah, it's that one. I'm not so sure now because of the box  :-Z How often the Omega uses to pop up on the ads?

n3rdling - I spent the first 3 days with Orpheus almost without sleep. Now I'm trying not to listen to it for some time, otherwise I can't enjoy HD800, K702, LCD-2 etc anymore.

It doesn't come up often. In the entire history of head-fi, I think you could count them on one hand.

I'm enjoying the Orpheus very much, although I think the he90 could give a little more, so I ordered an Aristaeus. In a ideal world I'd build a T2 but it's too mcuh hassle.  I don't listen to it as much as one would think though, because I want to like my other headphones too. I bought a phonitor recently and it's bringing a new life to my dynamics collection.

My hearing is playing tricks on me, I'm only 38 but there are days in which the Orpheus doesnt sound so good as for example now, while I'm typing this. It's sounding thin and plain  :(. Other days it sounds amazing. Wheter it's a hev90 issue (it's so old!), my noisy ac power or my hearing/brain failing I don't know. ::) I wonder if that happens with more people, with any headphones I mean. I thought of posting a thread about this but oh I'm so lazy.

I'm happy to know the Omega has better midbass, which is the bass I usually crave for. headbang

It's probably just your mood.  Unless you've pretty seriously trained yourself that's likely to be almost as important as the transducer you're listening too.
