n3rdling, how well do lambdas respond to EQ in your experience? and stats in general, specially in the sub-50hz region?

I've been wanting a stat setup for some time hopefully sooner than later (I'm broke ATM), but seeing the rolloff compared to some HP's I've heard I'm afraid I may find them a bit too basslight, The ESP950's look like a better choice for me but then those seem even more rolled off. Though maybe it's an error with purrin's graph(IF graphs for the 950 look way less rolled off in the bass)

It just depends how good a seal you can get.  If they seal right they won't roll off at all.

I haven't tried, but I don't see why they shouldn't handle EQ just fine.  As mav said, deep bass linearity on electrostats is dependent on how well the driver is sealed.  With most headphones the seal forms between the pad and your head, but with Lambdas half of the seal is formed between the driver and your ear.  They don't roll off as much as you see in the measurements because of this.  Regardless, I think you're more likely to notice a difference in bass impact.  The Lambdas don't have much bass impact at all, so if you're looking for something to rattle your skull these are far from ideal.  Transformer boxes generally increase impact while decreasing detail and refinement in comparison to their amp counterparts.  I personally much prefer amps, but transformers are a great route for those on a budget.

what do mean by sealing between driver and ear instead of between pads an head? at the risk of sounding stupid: Is it due to the stronger magnetic field of the stat driver than engulfs your ear or something like that?

I'm not a basshead by any means, I like a neutral sound signature.

No, your ear kinda slips inside the headpad and onto the driver.

Do it. You wont be disappointed.

The SR-Omega is my favorite e-stat, surpassing the SR-007 and even the SR-009 given my personal priorities. I also think it's the coolest looking headphone ever made.

Shame it's not more robust however (due to the way the drivers are mounted), but if you take good care of it, it should last a while.

The Omega I got my eyes on comes without the original box, do you guys think that's an issue? I'm thinking of using a pelican.
