Hi.

I'm guessing that many of you will already know me from Head-Fi. There's not much to be said about me. I like bass, a lot more than neutral, and I also like graphs, almost as much as I like bass.

Hello

Another rather old Head-Fi member here.

It's been a decade I have visited Head-Fi regularly (I think I actually registered there in 2006 or something) since 2002, after some break from the worlds of the headphones, I am rather quite shocked at how Head-Fi have become (which is sad. since Head-Fi really started my interest in headphones and I was a paid contributor for that site for a long time.)

That said, my very first good headphones were HD590 bought in 2000. I was actually looking for HD580, but the retailer said they ran out of stock for HD580, so instead they gave me HD590 (At that time, they cost about $400 in USD.) I found Head-Fi when I tried to find upgrade from HD590.

.....Even in these days, HD590 sound still amazing to me. I don't understand why Sennheiser abandoned such nice headphone frames and comfortable sound and went to crappier route.

Hi there,

I found a link to your forum on the latest Inner Fidelity blog post, via a headphone thread in the Mastering section of the Gearslutz forum.

I'm Gregg from the UK, although I spent 12 years in Japan (Audio Techinca ATH-W100's, with the Hokkaido Cherry Wood, looked gorgeous, although they sounded like arse and hurt my ears after 30 minutes) and am now residing in Milan (Sennheiser HD600 with Crookwood converters/monitor controller/headphone amp. I'm VERY happy with this combo, although I'm sure it could be beaten). Main monitors are ATCs.

Have been a teacher, and am now a mastering engineer by trade (working from home), as well as being a full time Dad to a five year old daughter!

Looking forward to catching up on the threads, learning some great info, and hopefully participating too! Ahoy there mateys!

 :)p1

My name is Rick and I'm a Texan. I found this site from the Innerfidelity article about it. I have used the Headroom measurements and then the Innerfidelity measurements because they seem more detailed than Headrooms. When I saw the measurements here and noticed differences between Innerfidelity and Changstar measurements I became more interested in why.

I'm reading and searching as much as I can to avoid asking dumb questions and am enjoying the information I'm finding so far.

This is a good question and I will explain later. Been too busy with work lately.

Already posted once, but thought I'd say hi. As per "personal text", I'm really quite reasonable, although two non-argumentative posts seems to be enough to start accruing negative karma ;D

Hey, Willakan.

I know there's a bit of bad blood between you and some of the other pirates but a bit of 'live and let live' attitude will help around here.  I don't agree with most of the other pitates on the issues of amps and DACs either but I do think purrin's CSDs are right on the money.

As far as I'm concerned, everyone comes to this site with a blank slate -- so welcome, Willakan.

And regarding the negative karma -- not too sure. My prime suspect would've been maverickronin since he's the resident objectivist around these parts  :P

Believe it or not, they weren't from me.  Although the future is always full of possibilities.   ;)   I keep trying to smite Maverick but keep missing.   :)p1

Personally, it's always refreshing to be able to read a dissenting opinion as long as there's a basis for the opinion? Yours is even better because there's objective backing. I'm with the other camp though, so to speak.

So, I have joined the Effin' Crew...Longbowbbs here and I have seen a few familiar folks from Head-Fi as well as few new scurvy dogs....I love audio. Sold it 30+ years ago in college. Owned it, used it, ignored it and have returned to it primarily via Headphones at the moment. Top end on my head at the moment are my HD650's. Also have some HD25-1's for travel and I am really enjoying the Dragonfly DAC.

I have a CSP2+ "On the Bench" at Decware, so tubes are soon to be on the menu for the first time. and I have signed up for RMAF to get a first hand listen to a bunch of the things I keep reading about but never can find to see in person.

Just remember I am always right.....(in my mind... ;D ) I didn't say I was "right" in my mind!   :)p7

See you on Deck.
