Thanks guys! Basically my affection to this hobby skyrocketed when I was studying in Reykjavik and finally found a place where they sell decent bread.

Good to see a fellow wordsmith, MuppetFace! Despite that I specialize in the philosophy of science and cognitive sciences in general, I quite enjoy ancient Greek philosophy. Especially Epictetus. Still looking for a good subject for my Masters Thesis.

In vino veritas est!

Welcome Rudewolf!

Interesting field of study. I'm wondering in your studies if you've delved into the area of Embodied Cognition? It was one of the more fascinating topics I came across in my undergraduate studies, particular the AI stuff by Andy Clark, but it was still a fairly new area of research back then. It'd be interesting to hear how things have progressed since then.

Anyway, this probably should've been taken to PM. Welcome aboard!

Well I should post here since I will have little to add elsewhere, nothing to give but lots to gain.

I used to be a pilot until a medical condition grounded me. I live in Singapore and have access to beautiful hi if equipment but headphones equipment less so. A few good stores but many brands missing.

Until recently I had great hearing but an operation stuffed up my left ear I still hear but reduced frequency response and much less volume. Sadly headphone gear which comes with a balance control is hard to find.

I love music, I love audio equipment and I love this hobby, but I do like some figures to go with my reviews, even if I don't fully understand them.

Currently I have 4 headphones for all occasions:
DT880 32 ohm ( I love these)
DT770 pro 250 for the night time so my mattress doesn't get all elbowy
Tdk wr700 wireless for when I want or need o move around while listening
Tdk ba200 iem for portable

So well here I am I shall pop up now and again with questions but I can't come close to many peoples experience and equipment (unemployed pilots are surprisingly poor) but if anyone wants aviation advice for some reason pease just ask!

Thanks!

Ps blame inner fidelity for my arrival.

Yeah... What's with all these cognitive scientists and perception altering headgear?

P.S. I actually plan to do a paper on psychoacoustics and language used to describe perceived acuostic phenomena (and qualia).

No I am no scientist I just like to see both sides of a story. And at my young stage in this hobby any information is useful.

Just signed up after lurking for a while. I run a small software company and was forced away from speakers and into headphones due to an extreme love of music, a wife and a too small of a house. I've spent the last 4 years wondering why so many headphones sound so bad. When I started, I believed the hype that you could get a headphone system for cheap that would beat any speaker rig. Hah! It's been a fascinating journey and the quest for a headphone system that I actually like has allowed me to learn more about audio (and cost me more money) than I ever would have imagined. The more I learn the more curious I get, it's a sickness.

Already posted once, but thought I'd say hi. As per "personal text", I'm really quite reasonable, although two non-argumentative posts seems to be enough to start accruing negative karma ;D
