There doesn't seem to be much love for Violectric products on this site. I notice that members have owned/do own Violectric kit, but hide in the shadows.

Violectric models are not mentioned in the leaderboards - perhaps passed over as being not 'tube like' (read:not enough 'pleasing' second harmonic distortion)? Too HeadFi? Whatever the reasons, I would be interested to read how the V800 (and the upcoming V850) compares to, for example, the Matrix X-Sabre or the Schiit DACs. The venerable V200 amp (and the newer V281 balanced) could also be compared to the Schiit offerings and others getting love within the Changstar inner clique.

So, consider this forum a safe house for all you Violectric fans.

Violectric is boring, spatially flat, lifeless, unresolving, undynamic. Especially the V200. 281 is a little better but still highly overrated and overpriced, and frankly a waste of money for what you get.

One positive, they tend to sound less fatiguing than a Benchmark DAC or other Sabre nasties out there. So the best thing Violectric does is try to be unoffensive without being equally offensive in the other extreme.

Violectric gets no love here because they don't sound good enough for the reference most of us have here. My little Geek Out DAC into my little Leckerton portable amp is leaps and bounds more transparent, resolving and musical than anything Violectric makes.

If you sound mediocre, you better be cheap cheap cheap to catch our attention. We are not interested in people spending more money on sidegrades or downgrades here.

Perhaps you missed the part where I put a call out for fans of Violectric and not the haters?

I've heard the V281 and the... eh I can't remember if it was the V200 or V181. Overall I do like them... but they're really expensive for what they are.

I haven't heard the standalone dacs, but the dac add-ons for $240... actually for that price I think it's a decent value add-on. It's just too bad you can only have one input type.

Not sure if I like stuffing one hole or both holes. Tending toward one hole since both holes seems kinda ghey ~Purrin

Perhaps you missed the part about free speech and this not being Head-fi. You're in the wrong place dood if you think we'd ever allow a fans only thread. This place is for critical audio discussion. This requires being critical by definition.

Not sure if you understand this place, gogogasgas.  It doesn't quite work that way. No haters. Just opinions. Sometimes strongly worded. You can already see two differing opinions expressed. Notice Anaxilus didn't respond with anything. They agree to disagree. No one takes it personally. I have never heard any of this gear. Read a lot about it. I would like to know more about why you like them, as many others do. And others don't. We try to discuss.

Might be a good idea to just not allow appreciation threads in general. Y'know, change the mode of discussion by being picky with the language used.
