Sounds like a great idea purrin, would love to see which amps really deliver and which one's are the fakes. I have a M^3 coming my way (should be here tuesday). I used to own a phonitor, and at one time also owned a LittleDot MK IV. My experience with amp's so far (have borrowed others, Amity for example), is that they really don't change that much to the sound. I compared the lot to my TC Electronic Konnekt 8 (which has an inbound headphone amp), and so far the differences were either negligible or in favor of the Konnekt 8. I currently run my HD650's of a Corda 3Move (on 12V power).

Yeah I agree. With the headphone measurements that purrin and Tyll do, you can get an eerily accurate idea of how a headphone sounds without hearing it.

With amps and DACs, it feels like the dark ages relying solely on listening impressions from Joe Blow.

I gotta say, I do love the pairing of the Objective 2 with the T50RP. The Fostex is just so smooth. Not a hint of glare, or grain... just nice clean sound with the O2.

FWIW, I love the O2 for being transparent.

I don't think it will go well with all headphones...the glare is there on some of them and is simply un-listenable with headphones like the FA-002w High Edition. However, I feel the O2 along with the HE500 are a good match and an even better match with neutral sounding headphones.

Got my M^3 with Sigma 11, and all I can say is wow, that thing is the real deal. Finally an amp that clearly makes a difference, a clear and audible difference to my Konnekt 8. The bass boost function is also great with my K1000's. With the sextet the difference is subtle, a little more air, more extension, tighter bass. Better but not a world of difference. With the K1000 however it is a huge difference, it tamed the highs a lot, bass is impactfull, miss are good as ever. Extremely nice separation and placement.

Thanks man. Not sure if I got it exactly where I want yet. I had given up on mine and haven't touched it in months. I even bought an Edition 8 to see if I'd like it as my main closed headphone, but am a bit disappointed in it (probably end up selling it). On a whim, I decided to cover my driver with the coffee filter and that reinvigorated my love for the Fostex. Been listening to the O2+Fostex combo all weekend. Good stuff right there.

Glad to hear you're liking it. I always wondered exactly how much better a Beta22 would be over an M3. The B22 just seems like such overkill for headphones that the M3 would probably be just as good for 99% of cans out there. It looks like a much easier (and cheaper) build than undertaking a B22 too.

I have never heard a B22, so I can't comment on that. I read online that the sigma 11 does make a big difference with the M3. I am very surprised how good it sounds, I haven't directly compared it to my Unison Research Unico driving the K1000's, but it seems like this sounds even better (could be because its new, so I will wait before I really judge). The way it extracts detail, adds bass and tame's the highs (not bright, piercing or tiring at all anymore!), I love it.

good to hear. are you using the shure pads? if you are,the 240 foam discs can make a nice difference. it can help not only in slowing down resonance to the ear but will bring the bass and treble  same time out and will add clarity. worked for me. stuffing front in the pads will help as much as stuffing the enclosure. planers fire/disperse both ways so it doesn't hurt to stuff the pads and experiment with certain layering to get it right.
