Well not a bad idea, but I didn't think the qualities were that far apart. A to C to F would seems to indicate a huge difference. The differences were not that huge.

It indeed does go from A to F. Just none of the gear in question deserved a D or F in those categories. And I can rename plenty of more expensive DACs which would have received D's or F's. At worse, anything specific quality as no worse than "average". This is actually a first for me. Nothing sounded bad.
Well I said within the sphere of the devices being reviewed, so the worst would be F and best would be A and it couldn't be compared to other reviews. This is worse for comparing reviews to each other, but that's problematic anyways due to differences in, well, everything. Having more gradations in a single review gives more accuracy.

No, no, no.  That presents a moving target with no frame of reference.  Might as well buy a tube amp Max.   ;) ;D

Oh, forgive me, I assumed you guys would be all grabby with the Schiit  :)p1

Just to make things clear for everyone else: we've never received free items or pre-production schiit from Schiit. In fact, we asked for a Gungnir to review very early on, but Jason wanted to serve their paying customers first. The Gungnir I have in my possession was from the Bay Area meet which I have yet to return to Schiit. The Mjolnir I purchased from Schiit.

Unlike many others on HF, I think it's ethically wrong for me to get free shit for a review. I don't do that kind of schiit and I certain don't need more schiit in my house. I think most vendors are afraid to lend me or give me free schiit for a review anyways. I can't imagine Meridian or Sennheiser was happy with me.

I'm having "difficulties" on gathering myself to come to a decision. I wish Vancouver had a larger headio community. Thanks for the reviews guys, that table format was pretty refreshing and easy to follow.  :)p5

Hm.. to clarify my statement.. I didn't mean you guys got free stuff, just first dibs on buying and input on pre-production stuff to help voice gear, etc. Sort of beta testers that also get first purchase rights.

Purrin, myself, and LFF have all turned down various forms of compensation in the past regardless of what anyone thinks.  People can testify to my frustrations in going out my way to help people improve their products for free.  Shipping for all the gear isn't free either and there aren't little fairies and sprites to box stuff and ship it out.  I can't speak for anyone else but I just want to help people make better sounding stuff because it means I get to listen to better sounding stuff.  It's not just us three either.

There's no mystery why we're close to EC, Donald North and Schiit.  Proximity and we think they make good sounding stuff at the right price points.  So that's why we have good communication w/ them.  If you ask them, they'll tell you our feedback isn't usually positive so it's not like they enjoy hearing from us.  Some companies can take constructive criticism, others only feign like they do since they know they can compensate in other ways and still sell shit so who cares?

Hi Purrin,

Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but what interconnects did you use between Gung & Mjol ?

Radio shack or whatever cheap ass XLRs I could find in the house. Probably some random cables I snagged with Neutrik connectors.
