Excellent read, purrin!

Still, I think you were a little too kind with the LCD-3: though technically not bad, I think that no $2000 HP should be that colored. It's distressing to see this trend of highly colored/very expensive TOTL HP  :'(.

No mention of DACs, though...  :)p8

DACs are not specific to the headphone hobby, and by and large aren't targeted specifically to the headphone community.

Fair point, hadn't thought of it that way.  I definitely think there are starting to be more products aimed at the headphone demographic, though.  Serving as a couple examples are portable DACs (Leckerton, FiiO, ODAC), or Schiit's products.

I can see DACs being directly relevant if they have built-in headphone amps. To that end, I think Leckerton Audio deserves a mention. Their products are great.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

+1 for Leckerton

I like anyone who documents their gear's performance and I've got plenty of praise for my UHA-4.

Say Marv, are you interested in having me point to this .pdf from InnerFidelity.  I think it's an excellent viewpoint and think readers would benefit from being aware of it.  Don't know if you want the traffic (noise) though, maybe a version of the .pdf without the Changstar URL on it would work. Or mebbe you do want the traffic.  Anyway, it's good stuff that I wouldn't necessarily want InnerFidelity to write, but got no problems passing it on as another viewpoint from within the hobby. Lemme know.

Why wouldn't you want Innerfidelity to write it?  I have no problem with that, and can imagine why you might not want to, but I'm just curious to know more about your perspective.

What I see:
It's decidedly bleaker than IF's bent.  While Tyll does occasionally review something he considers a clunker, most of the stuff he likes.  The PDF has the "most stuff is junk" feel to it.  Can't be good for Sponsorship either if presented as direct IF content.
