None of the NOS ones are pictured here. The pic on the EC website is out-of-date.

I figure $350 for a good set of matched Mullard XF4s. Or $120 for Winged C SED EL34s. Craig almost always runs crap production tubes.

Just an FYI:

Craig would like his deposits shortly after Jan 10th. This metal shop is currently on break and is expected to be back and running around that time. He did mention that the folks he's already talked to (via e-mail or phone) are on the list for the $3500 intro price.

Whoops, sent him mine immediately.  Hopefully that doesn't mess with him or Judi.

I’m sending my deposit in this week to get this baby started. I’m a complete noob though when it comes to both stats and tube amps. It’s all been dynamics and solid-state equipment for me up until now.

I sent an inquiry about tubes for the Electra, and this was the reply:

Contact, line voltage what we are building.
The Electra comes with New stock Mullard EL34, and Tung Sol 6SN7. If you don’t want tubes subtract $105.00. Those are the only tubes I provide. Upgrade to Jentzen Silver caps, and $50.00.

Should I skip the stock tubes and get something like Marv suggested a few posts back? What about the Jentzen Silver caps? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I've only heard the Jantzens in the Super 7, can't say anything about them in the Electra till I hear them.  I have an idea about it but how they respond in the Super7 and HD800 rig could be a bit different compared to what might come of the Electra and a set of Stax.  I'm sure the signature of the cap is the same, but how it meshes is another matter.  If anything, hazarding a guess I would say that stats would welcome the added resolution and space yet maintain more of their liquidity compared to the HD800 rig.

Looks like what you're seeing there is Craig's dealer cost.  New production TS 6SN7's are normally $15-20 each and the new Mullards usually $20-25 each.

I asked Craig a few days ago if he wanted me to send in my deposit, and he said yes, so I did. Glad that's done with, and I can forget about it for the time being.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

As a S7 owner, I already have plenty of 6SN7s so I won't be getting the tube package.  The cap upgrade is basically cost of parts too since there are 4 total in balanced configuration.  He's making zilch on selling tubes or the cap upgrade.
