It seems like the parts sourcing and testing headache is more time consuming than actually building.  I would have done a T2 if it wasn't for reading about all the fake parts.  My work takes so much time that I'm not really listening to anything anymore.

i take it the comparisons were done using the same source purrin?

The electra sounded great, a fair bit warmer and a thick bottom end than the LL. Granted both were on different sources, the Electra on your PWDmk2 vs the LL on the oppo

The BHSE sounded great with the )2mk1...am sorry did not do it for me with the 009..i was surprised.

The T2DIY on the accuphase sounded very underwhelming for me. I liked the BHSE with the Oppo better in fact.

Yup same source. The LL tone was just perfect from the PWD2 fw2.02. The Electra was a tad too thick with the same setup. Those tubes Craig brought were fucking craptastic though and they sounded wierd to me (compared to vintage Mullard XF4s). I told him to get at least the SED Winged C EL34. But nooooo, he came to some wierd conclusion that they were the same thing as the POS current production Mullards. Those CBS/RCA black triangle plate 6SN7s tend to be overly laid back too.

LOL. It's like Alex bringing those POS 6SN7s (I don't know if you can do any worse than those tubes he brought) for the LG. Fortunately he had those Genalex Gold Lions 6922s which saved the LG! Would have been much more interesting if he brought better vintage tubes, even basic ones for $30 would have killed those RCA and EH6SN7s.

On the T2DIY, the Accuphase was not a good match for it. I'm glad you guys got a chance to feed the Oppo to it?

What was your general assessment of the Accuphase, sachu?  It makes sense that the source is clearly articulated through all those high-end stat amps, though I would have imagined that the DIY T2 would have done a good job compensating for most sources.  At least from reputation, I've read the Accuphase can be a bit thin sounding.

Makes me wonder how much the HEV90 is tuneable via source, too.

Cool
yeah i had no idea he didn't have better tubes for the LG. That amp is a chameleon...pure tube sound. Most musical experience at the meet for me witht he paradox hands down.

Can you elaborate on the detail retierval ability of the LL versus the Electra? What tubes were you running during the comparison?

Very flat sounding. no dynamics, no attack to it. Low end was decent in comparison to good to really good on all other stat rigs i heard.

The HE90 surprisingly sounded really good out of the same source which left me wondering.

ANd yes, the source matters a lot with these new stat amps and headphones.

Alex's lack of tubes is my fault , I should have sent my more treasured tubes.

 :)p6

Still remained the one system that spread a smile on my face among all that i heard and made me sit back and enjoy.

The Electra rig was the only other system that evoked such a response. Wish i could listen to it more with tubes suited to it as the sound was as purrin mentioned too thick/warm. Craig's got a winner. Only the second Eddie current amp after the BA that I really liked and could imagine myself justifying owning. (IMHO).
And if its true at the introductory price of less than 4 grand its probably gonna be at the top two spots on my list if not at the top from my brief listen.

Funny how both these two designers don't think much of a source or tubes or fancy parts lol..Alex is slowly realizing about the source at least after this last meet. :)

Another problem with building the DIYT2 is trying to troubleshoot it if you run into a problem.  Some really experienced builders were having a tough time getting their up and running actually.
