Hi!!  Been lurking and reading for some time now. Mostly just staring at rainbow waterfalls..  and colourful lines.....

Finally decided to create an account and post......

But the account creation 'not-a-bot' questions were too hard (me thinks its an IQ filter but ah well), took me another month before I got one random question right, and VIOLA....

Disillusioned by head-fi..  got bored of the Aussie ones... and frustrated by Malaysia's audiophile forums..

Hey,

I was drawn here by Tyll's blog to be perfectly honest. I started learning to interpret his graphs and really wished I had done so earlier: I've owned a few objectively bad headphones. So eventually I noticed a CSD plot floating around Head-Fi and found it to portray frequency response and decay time extremely effectively which brought me back here. Hopefully spending more time on these forums will help me make more informed purchases, and help those who haven't taken advantage of headphone measurements.

Hi I'm a noob,
Been in and out of this headphone game since 2009, have gone from MS-1s -> HD650 (seriously poorly amped) -> TF10 customs -> DT250 80ohm - > W5000 -> the reason I'm here now.
Was looking as buying the 1840 until read purrin hating on the distortion haha, so found this place and decided I'd lurk some more before buying another pair of headphones(I really want a HE-6 or HE500)
Pretty sure all my headphone collection wouldn't measure well, so I look forward to lurking and until I can act like a know it all on HF  >.>

Do you like what you have so far? The W3000 is like the W5000, but more "normal". Any direction you want to go?

yeah I like what I have, but there's always room for improvement. I'd definately want a planar or electro stat next, and bang for buck wise it's probably the 2170 set, he500 or esp/950.
but my ego keeps making me want to get an HE6 and be done with it all. (but that never is the case is it)

ehh, I wouldn't assume you'll like the He6 more just because it's the next model up and more expensive.  Many people prefer the HE500 and even if you're not one of those people, it may be plenty good enough, and you can drive it with a much more flexible array of source and amp, even straight from a DAP if you need to.

Unless you hear the two and really prefer the HE6 and are fine with it's amping requirements I'd recommend just getting the HE500.

Well that's what the head-fi fs/ft forum is for, "I love this headphone soo much best I've ever had but have to urgently put food on the table"
I think I have enough power to amp it, a NFB10se, and some 100 watt speaker amps.

Hi all out there....

Gojakla entered your forum via InnerFidelity's post about you Pirates  :)p1

My specs are the following:

Phones:
- AKG K270 Studio (never been bored of them - a pure classic for me)
- Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (The most comfy headphones ever put on. However the low frequencies tend to be excessive in some kinds of music.

Amp:

- JDS Labs O2 (Very pleased of it. An overall fair machine for its money and more than plenty of power)

Dac:

- JDS Labs ODac (IMHO very detailed... that tend to be tedious. Would personaly like it to be a slight warmer. However i think its a good machine among the low-cost Dacs)

That' s all about me folks....  popcorn

Hi,

I'm from head-fi too and registered here as soon as I knew about it (through innerfidellity).

I been on this hobby for one year approximately, and I'm loving it. Already have lots of cans. I started with a W4 and a Beyer DT880-250 Ohms. They got me very impressed. The first can that really gave me goose bumps was Denon D7000, that I will probably keep for life. My biggest purchase so far is an Orpheus system from another fellow head-fier, Neil. That took a lot of courage  :)p1

I also like photography... though I'm not much of a photographer myself.

You've only been into head-fi for a year and you already own an Orpheus rig? Wow!
