There is hope.

You mean you're going to replace corn syrup with a wok pan ?

Check, check, and check. We already had cheap(-ish) sugar since we "annexed" Hawaii, but those government corn subsidies really started paying off once ADM figured out how to successfully mass-market HFCS. Also, the baby-boomers (finally) started graduating from college, and all the dang uppity women put on shoes and stepped out of the kitchen. Its been a downhill slide ever since.

Or uphill if you own fast food stock.  :)p7 Until recently. Come on McDonald's your killing my retirement funds!

Notice the FDA turned down the Corn Growers Assoc request to change the name from HFCS to just Corn Sugar.
Something about it having to be manufactured with an enzyme invented in Japan.

No, I think he means the beauty of the wok will draw more women (or men) out of the workforce, to rediscover the joys of cooking.

Once we're all chinese, they'll have to venerate the wok anyway.  But yeah that must be that, the other explanation was sounding funky.

OH WOW, what a transgression, while we have been piddling about belgie and fatness, we neglected to celebrate:

EGYPT, "home of innovation and harsh rule for thousands of years"

AND

Luxembourg, "that other one"

I am Dutch and half Hindu. Once you learn to wok you cannot un-wok for the wok becomes the heart of the kitchen.

To wok or not to wok, that is the question. Pyramides and small countries come and go. The wok stays.

Ah Egypt...the only country in the world I have ever visited where I had to eat Turkish Doritos for a week to recover from the horrible food poisoning. I wonder if it was the people in Cairo who would carry their trash past the dumpsters and throw it into the Nile and never dry down their dishes. Hmm...

The Pyramids, probably one of the most underwhelming of all the monuments to human achievement in person. Brandenburg gate is probably up there with it. The Sphinx and Luxor were more interesting to me. If you like pyramids and massive stone structures, go to Central and South America. For those that might have missed it, those Egyptian bricks were cast on site FYI.

I'd go back to Sharm el-Sheikh for the diving, but nothing else in Egypt. Would rather be in Israel dodging rockets for the most part.

Also, not sure who is being made fun of here but it's like a two-for-one special!

In Egypt, the more things change, the more they stay the same:

Also, fat became the villain and sugar was added to foods to make them taste less nasty without any fat. Now we have low/no fat food with lots of sugar. Turns out the human body has no problem processing fats, sugar not so much.

More bacon anyone?

Agreed on the pyramids being underwhelming and Luxor being pretty cool. I escaped any food poisoning there by only eating meat, pita and bottled water. Others around me had fruit and things and got sick. Not my favorite country by far.

Oh I don't eat the fruit or uncooked stuff in most countries when I visit. But if they put cooked meat of wet dirty plates you're f*cked!
