I still may be wrong, been reading frantically and context is blurring like tomorrow's one night stand, please don't crucify me guys. But it looks like the Geek will require another device for full functionality (outside of a computer). Probably not an issue for most, and maybe even preferred since smartphones are very common. I just was looking for something else and shouldn't have jumped in arse first. To be fair, I'm not the only one confused.

The logistics were just growing pains.  They're increasing their manpower all the time and shuffling the right people to the right job.  I just met some new folk they hired over the weekend including a new sales director, so they are investing the resources into customer service and not running away with the money.  The way I see it you either hate the experience and hate LH so should just get your money back and be done with it, or go in based on the tech itself.  You seem caught halfway atm, so you'll have to figure that one out.  I can guarantee it's not going to be vaporware, but I can't guarantee they'll meet every deadline on point.  I can understand in boutique audio when things happen beyond your control, this is why it's not a good idea to overpromise which is why Jason no longer announces product development openly.  Hell, getting a proper transformer made for the Levi these days is like building the panama canal. 

Appreciate the insight Mike, I'm in for the 32. Might upgrade it later down the line.. will have to see.

Yeah, I'm not gonna make a big fuss. Just wait for them to get back to me, they seem like cool guys according to y'all. At worst, I'll have to consider buying a modern smartphone in a year's time... which is what I was trying to avoid with the DAP. Okay no, I really hope they refund me.

That's from two months ago before they rebooted the campaign and the Wave got a screen and buttons on the case.

Is there full functionality and control via the player, or are the buttons intended for some level of basic usability when not tethered to a smartphone?

I'll continue reading the board to achieve more clarity.

EDIT: LH seems pretty forgiving, telling backers on the board that refunds will be doable once the campaign ends, and after the full specs are released so backers can be sure whether or not they want to banana split.

I'm pretty sure the Wave can be used alone. The added bonus is that you can hook it up to your existing interface whether it be a smartphone, a CD player with bluetooth capabilities, etc. I think the market factor is, the DAC/AMP/DAP is fully functional in your existing system and that there is no hassles implementing it.

Nah, no worries.  The forums and two campaigns can be quite confusing due to lost of vestigial info.  They'd be the first to admit it.  Hell, I'm not even clear on what the Wave S is exactly.
