I have to say, both of the amps you are considering seem extremely overkill for the cans you plan to use.  :-Z

These guys beat me to it, but to add.. the TH-900 is one of those headphones that I feel don't "scale" much in terms of amps. They do get somewhat better with a better source and DAC but if I had to quantify the SQ, I would say the TH-900 is about 95% potential out of your choice DAP. I feel both the M9 and Rag are completely overkill in terms of power, meaning you won't have much play on the pot.

Well at least if someone asks you why the Fostex 900 cups are red, you can say they are on the Rag!   p:/

Personally I'm going to get a Rag for my UERMs now that I have a balanced cable for them.  Yup, that's what I'ma do.

I appreciate all the advice and I agree about the power needs of the TH900.  They are supposed to arrive in the mail today and I plan to test them on my Asgard 2 and see how I like it.

Interesting.  I was just going by your recommendation of the pairing on your head-fi review of the Master 9.

I wouldn't buy the M9 or Rag just for the TH-900. I was on a quest to find a headphone amp that could drive the HE-6 to my liking. I figured I should post some thoughts on the headphones I had around me.

Nonetheless, I stand by my comments made, the pairing should be great. My objections are simply about value.
