Oh snap, very hopeful that the Yggy prototype is at THE Newport.

The Jude's first impressions:

Hmm... it's hard to trust what jude has to say about new products, as he always seems to have something good to say about them. It is schiit though, so there's gotta be some credibility to what he's saying.

lol, not posting because I agree. Just as a reference.

Quote (selected)
in consideration of the headphones I’ve tried with it so far: though there’s a smoothness to its delivery, it is not a romantic sounding amp. The Schiit Audio Ragnarok is neutral and dazzlingly revealing of the music you feed it.

This actually kinda goes against some pirates first impressions. I'm not sure what Jude keeps around as a "reference" amp, but I would not have called the Rag particularly smooth. Maybe next to some nasty sounding SS stuff it is in comparison.

I can sort of agree with the second sentence though. We all need more time to compare I think.

Was hoping Jude had a higher-end amp to compare the Rag to. Hoping the Rag could be compared a speaker amp.

Maybe it will be at our mini-meet? I'd definitely like to compare it to my Krell.

Seems like a good start but I have to be honest, most of what I've heard from Jude is borderline gushy. I was slightly disappointed with what I heard at the OC meet, but I'm hoping that Schiit was able to work it out and tweak this beast. Tone done the aggressiveness for some sweetness. Looking forward to some impressions here though!

It's entirely possible Schiit has finally worked the bugs out of it. I've heard two iterations of the Rag, and it was quite different. One was really harsh and fowarding sounding (OC meet), and the other was really smooth - ice skating smooth gliding- but slightly bass light (Changfest in Bay Area.)

I liked how Jude put the Rag in respective and comparison with other amps of known quantity. He's going to leave any negatives out of course, but that's cool with me because of the position he is in. BTW to put things in persepective from my point of view: the DarkStar is a POS. It HE-6 doesn't sound nasty from the Darkstar, but that's because the Darkstar kills almost everything: etch, timbre, dynamics, resolution, misty veil, gray background, etc., with the exception of it having decent driver control. The EF-6 was also kind of crappy (bested by a cheap T-amp) with the HE-6. Again, good driver control but very mediocre in technicalities - just "another" SS amp with power. (I much preferred my Crest CA2 pro power amp.)

If indeed Schiit put a lot tweaking time with the HD800 as Jude indicated, than that would be good news.

I'm hopeful given Schiit great track record with SQ.  I am currently weighing the purchase of an Audio-gd Master 9 and the Ragnorak for my TH900s.
