The hype train is going full speed ahead.

LOL, the hype is really fascinating to witness. Interesting how many people get all enthusiastic over some endorsements and announcements. If I have learned anything over the last couple of years it is to wait till all the hype has died down and people start talking turkey after they cool down a bit

I think it's pretty humorous overall to watch this happen. I almost feel bad for some of these newer members that are just blindly being pulled in. It's also interesting how heavily the mods are reviewing that thread and deleting anything negative that is said.

The hype train is going full speed ahead.

Hype train it is!

Just today, I had a buddy tell me all about these after reading head-fi of course. "3d technology" in the cups and a bunch of amazing things. lol. Until these get measured, this is just another head-fi hyped up product to me.

I don't post much, but couldn't hold back on this one.

Why do they have to get measured?

Measurements are just a matter of reassurance - another data point. Always good to have in the sea of subjective impressions.

So what's being said? I always seem to be too late.

Someone was calling Dan out for commercializing MD/AD, and being secretive about their modding specifics, despite the "DIY" geist of the T50RP modding scene from which MadDogs was built upon. Shitstorm ensued.

How long does it take to 3D print a set of cups? about 2 hours a pair?

At the California Audio Show today, they had an unfinished cup on the table so you could see what it looked like.  I overheard the story on how the cup came to be- it wasn't meant to be a demo piece.  Apparently he was in the middle of 'printing' one and accidentally unplugged something (or lost power) and the printer stopped after 6 hours with another 30 minutes to go.

Why do they have to get measured?

Normally I would not care as much for measurements if I got a chance the listen to the headphones and subjectively judge for myself. In situations like the AD where I cannot listen to the headphones first, I look to measurements in helping me decide if it is something I might spend money on. With measurements, I can somewhat gauge how they compare with existing headphones I already own that have been similarly measured.

I have learned the hard way buying anything based on forum hype can turn out to be a very expensive mistake. The AD's may be good, but the way it is promoted makes me question it even more.
