Did you find the mid/treble response decreases all that much with the dot mod?

Not particularly, no. Seems to mostly target existing peaks.

BTW, I ran some sine sweeps on the AD and do not hear a null around 4KHz. I know there was a bit of discussion about that. You can hear the emphasis around the 4-5KHz and 7-8KHz spots, but overall seemed fairly smooth.

It seems the 500Hz-1KHz spot had the most channel imbalance and "wiggly" response (fairly even overall, but had a lot of micro-variations). On the Hex + Vali, I heard some channel imbalance and overall what seemed to be a slight droop in the 100-400Hz area, though switching to the Creative SB1240 (as DAC, using HPO) didn't seem to present this imbalance (slight droop in that area is hard to say, but possible based on my subjective listening and measurements). Everything else held the same, so it's likely it was just a small shift that got the AD to better fit and seal around my head. Perhaps not, but, either way, not too worried about that.

Even after a couple hours on my head, I still find it quite difficult to get a proper fit and seal. I'm always messing with them and essentially have to sit fairly still once I get them right. The Mad Dog has no such issues...seals and fits like a charm every single time with very little adjustment needed. Why is this? I adjusted the headband a bit on the AD to better fit my head, and that did help some. Still, the MD headband isn't shaped to fit my head as well, so I'm not totally inclined to believe it's related to the headband. Of course, with the custom cups and how they "work with" the rods and sliders, that could explain the difference.

Why is this? I adjusted the headband a bit on the AD to better fit my head, and that did help some.

The Alpha cups are slightly thicker, therefore the bend in the Alpha is better made at a "wider" point.  We set them this way at the factory.

I can't say if prior users of the tour unit bent the band to fit their heads so what you have could have been adjusted by anyone.

I would suggest that you setup your bends to be about 1/2-1" from the FOSTEX on the headband, which is a little wider than we set the Mad Dog.  For *most* people this gives the best geometry.  Then try increasing the clamp until the phone is settled right and has the right pressure.

Since this is the tour unit if you can't get it right PM and we'll setup a video chat to get it fit right to you.  For that matter, I'm happy to do that for anyone who ever has a fit issue or question.

Eh, I won't worry about it too much on the tour unit, since I did get plenty of good listening time on them and need to send them off soon. If I end up getting my own pair and can't fit it right (should be able to with that advice), I'll be sure to get in touch!
