I need some advice on finding some good Doors releases.  I totally dig 'em, but for some reason I struggle to enjoy some of the albums I have when they do that heavy split instruments deal to one channel or the other.  With headphones it just drives me nuts.  Speakers, I don't mind as much.  I'm probably not explaining this well...

Well since you have a turntable I'd suggest the recent Analogue Productions 45s.

Remastered from the original tapes. Analog front to back. Best I've ever heard the big 6 sound.

If you want digital the new SACDs aren't bad at all but some people prefer the DCC Doors releases. The new vinyl is magic though (but it's expensive).

I may have to do the Doors box set as well. I just ordered 14 jazz 45's from Acoustic Sounds (Analogue Productions, Music Matters, ORG) and they all sound ridiculously good. There's a 10% off sale going on right now too it seems.

My only word of caution is that when MT said that Doors set would be expensive, he really meant it!   :-DD

I managed to get over the shock and grabbed a set, it's on it's way to me now. I've cursed Morbid for the suggestion, but I know I'll be praising him when I get a listen!

Tell me about it. My order was a bit over $700 in one shot. I definitely don't have any buyer's remorse right now though, as I've been making my way through them all in the past couple of weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed it. If it's an album you love, it's worth it to have a reference version. Plus, I've spent money on dumber things (Edition 8's???). I'm eyeing the Doors set and the Bill Evans set, but am having a bit harder time dropping $900 in one order.

Did you get the vinyl or CD? I've read of folks getting duplicate sides of copies with the vinyl, rather than the whole album.

It's a shame the deluxe version doesn't come out for another month or so. Cannot wait to spin this on vinyl though, as their previous albums have been better on LP than digital.
