It is Back on Black.

I have no idea if they released the mastering information, and in this case I don't care.  I should have been even clearer in my post, this thing is a like a "good" bootleg copy.  It's poorly recorded and even great mastering is only going to have it's limits.

That said they were able to convey the venue and deliver a very real live sound with some pretty amazing detail, all things considered.

And it doesn't hurt this release at all if you can forget about it and enjoy the music.  If you can't,  there is nothing wrong with that, but apply elsewhere.

For the record, no pun intended, I have several Back on Black releases (found a few for 1-2 GBP each recently!).  I haven't listened to them all, but the first two were fun to see spinning and sounded great.  Time will tell on the others.

Isnt that record from BOB? Did they release any mastering info? I'm weary of those guys.

That makes more sense. I LOVE The Doors so I might hunt down a copy of that just to add to my collection.

I have multiple BOB releases and they tend to do CD masters straight to LPs and they sound awful in the case of the ones I have.

I need some advice on finding some good Doors releases.  I totally dig 'em, but for some reason I struggle to enjoy some of the albums I have when they do that heavy split instruments deal to one channel or the other.  With headphones it just drives me nuts.  Speakers, I don't mind as much.  I'm probably not explaining this well...

Well since you have a turntable I'd suggest the recent Analogue Productions 45s.

Remastered from the original tapes. Analog front to back. Best I've ever heard the big 6 sound.

If you want digital the new SACDs aren't bad at all but some people prefer the DCC Doors releases. The new vinyl is magic though (but it's expensive).

Thanks.  I'm thinking vinyl for the Doors.  I'll start searching, and prepare my wallet!   :-DD
