Solderdude, how does it perform compared to other topologies?

Linky please...

I had searched the web and various forums for a similar design but couldn't find it.
Later I was pointed to this design:
http://www.susan-parker.co.uk/zeus.htm
from pre 2006 but is hardly similar as it is a power amp and has an output transformer that needs to be driven from a low Ohmic source as well.

I am willing to bet I am not the first one to think of this idea though.

It was not chronicled online like your and Doug's designs.  It was also a one-off for personal use, and the designer doesn't like to outline his builds for general consumption from what I can tell.

Solderdude, how does it perform compared to other topologies?

It's not the amp I use the most often and specs also show average results mostly because of losses in the transformers and even though I use no overall feedback in this particular design that isn't even as bad as I thought it would.
FR is kind of limited by the transformers.
The ones used in Doug's amp may very well go further up and maybe further down.

This is what RMAA had to say about it. (for what it is worth)

Frequency response (from 40 Hz to 15 kHz), dB +0.05, -0.26
Noise level, dB (A) -89.8
Dynamic range, dB (A) 89.6
THD, % 0.0072
THD + Noise, dB (A)    -78.7
IMD + Noise, %    0.122
Stereo crosstalk, dB -86.1
IMD at 10 kHz, % 0.012

General performance    Good

From 20 Hz to 20 kHz, dB -0.74, +0.05 (soundcard plays a role here too)
From 40 Hz to 15 kHz, dB -0.26, +0.05

My own measurements say 15Hz to 20kHz -0.5dB
5Hz to 35kHz -3dB (don't like the -3dB spec but is generally given).

I don't have golden ears but some say it sounded slightly less than 2 other designs I had brought along others said it sounded good.
In a blind AB test (that always followed) nobody could tell the apart from a tube-hybrid and all SS amp.

Just to update, I added the Black Diamond into the work rig today.  HP-1/BD and a few terabytes of music... I think I'll be working late tonight.

I've had a few amps temporarily set up at work in the past, including Cavalli amps, a B22, Burson, Schiit and Woo. Never before have I gotten so many comments - people were making excuses to stop by my desk.  Four or five of us had an impromptu micro meet during lunch.  One guy thought the strings on Alexi Murdoch's Towards the Sun album had never sounded so real.  Another girl ended up almost ripping the cord out of the amp because she ended up dancing when listening to MJ, I kid you not.

All anecdotes and not necessarily trained listeners, but pretty fun/funny nevertheless.  I've had much more expensive gear here in the past and usually no one pays it a second thought.  Now I need a matching USB capable Walnut DAC in transparent acrylic.

Listening to Sam Cooke's Live at the Harlem Square Club now.  "...That's the sound of the men working on the Chang Gang."  Great stuff.

Now I just need to order a Leviathan for the home rig and I'm good.  At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I enjoy them both, but I just love the energy from the crowd at his harlem set.  You have to make sure you have the original release, as with the version most people have the remaster made Sam's voice more audible and toned down the crowd - its a totally different album. Copa has some stuff outside his normal repertoire which is cool, but Harlem is packed with hits that bring down the house.  Tremendous album from start to finish.

I snagged that last PCB. Finding a case might be a pain in the butt. But I've wanted to recase my ES9018 DAC with a matching headamp so maybe something custom is in my future.

You say finding the case might be hard?

Let's see, SiliconRay has a nice selection:
