Now, if they actually supported USB Audio 2.0 Standard, we'd be getting somewhere.

As it is, it's driver city for 24/192. And in about 5% of our installs, Windows 7 Ultimate is convinced that a Bifrost is a "human input device" or some such crap, and installs its own driver, which results in a driver conflict with our actual USB2 driver.

Ah well. I had hoped that W8 would fix this, but it looks like we're SOL.

I know!  How can they code such a great new audio system from the ground up and leave out USB Audio 2.0?
You could always send me all of your products.  I can try to get them working  :)p13

Don't know about you guys, but the idea of a unified PC, tablet, phone, etc. OS really, really excites me.

And before everyone starts bitching about changes, give yourselves a few months with it (with an honest, open effort!) before judging. If you still hate the changes after that, there will be solutions to add the typical W7 desktop functionality back in place (start menu, W8 boots to desktop, etc.).

So far as the interface is concerned, I'm okay with it. Its not much different from w7 actually. Basically the start box replaces the start button. No biggie

Shutting down my W7 PC requires two clicks and about one second. Try the same in W8, in the same amount of time.

No drivers needed for Mac or Linux, since they conform to USB Audio 2.0 Standard.

And in the 5% of cases where we get a driver conflict on Windows, it's resolvable (it usually happens on W7 Ultimate,) but it's a pain in the ass of finding conflicting drivers, uninstalling, etc. It's just something that wouldn't happen at all if Microsoft understood what "Standard" meant, and, you know, supported it.

Ha.
Haha
PFHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

THIS IS THE COMPANY THAT DEFINED THE DOCX STANDARD AND DIDN'T IMPLEMENT THE STANDARD FULLY UNTIL (THE UPCOMING) OFFICE 2013.
The docx files in Word 2007 and 2010 stray massively from Microsoft's own standard regarding the format  :)p13

I will when I get it installed within the next week or so! :P Just waiting on my i5 2500K...

Having used the developer preview almost a year ago, I remember most of the things that took longer to do vs. W7 were because I hadn't completely memorized how the system worked.

Or you could just map the power button to shut down the computer for you. That only takes one click. ;)
