Hmm, I was hoping to avoid the thing altogether as it seems primarily a tablet, Winphone interface forced onto a PC. Or at least wait till next years service pack to be integrated.  I'm due for a reformat as it's time to move my 4-5 year old Core 2 duo up to Ivy or Haslem so maybe I should give it a go before then.

I wonder if it'll get me closer to the PWD mk2 signature using my mk1.

Don't knock metro. It's actually really nice and useful.  I hated it at first too because it was different, but it's actually faster than Aero and uses less resources!  W8 runs on my VM with 1GB of ram, using only 500MB of ram with all the bells and whistles turned on  :-00

It's not that old.  Isn't it from the Vista days when MS first introduced Superfetch, or are you talking about Win 95 leaks?  :))

Actually there were a few in 7 earlier but the old ones were pretty nefarious.

I do like Metro as applied to Winphone, think its better than iOS or Android except for how they locked it down but I understand why.  We'll see.  Maybe my next lappie will be some sort of Yoga convertible.  Hopefully a Thinkpad version made out of magnesium or carbon/kevlar w/ i7.  Lenovo is picking up the Thinkpad development just a bit again, phew.

To use the new bit-perfect audio system in foobar, download this component http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_out_wasapi and set the output bit depth to your DAC's native input depth.  :)

Great, thanks! Now, native depth...would that just be the maximum bit depth it supports?

Your dac chip, yes.  It's likely 24-bit.  Although if it's one of the 32-bit chips, it may be 32 (depending on the receiver they used).
Best to go with 24 though.  You can't go wrong with that, because you don't have any 32-bit music, so it doesn't matter :))
