Has oido a Carlos "Chuck" Norris hablar espanol en tres diferentes lenguajes... Tambien creo que Puneta es una variedad de Aikido que Steven Seagal desarrollo...

If Steven Seagal developed "Puneta", I should be a Black Belt already!!!
LOL!!!

As I understand it, I've been invited to this forum so that an introductory post is not required, but for the sake of establishing a little gratitude for gaining entrée to where the cool kids hang out, I offer this post. If I've misinterpreted the invite, I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Actually, I'm going to recycle the post that garnered my invitation, and another that aptly conveys my status and current contribution to the literature, such as it is.

http://www.head-fi.org/t/197776/sennheiser-hd650-appreciation-thread/11010#post_9197738

http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/explorer-bests-dragonfly-my-entry-level-dac-evaluation-idac-and-modi-also-ran-15087/

In addition to AudioStream and Innerfidelity, these two posts also illustrate where I've been hanging out. Head-fi is fun but has been driving me crazy. The vigor with which tenuous impressions are mooted with little regard for previous statements, not to mention evidence and logic, is bizarre. Took a while do dawn on me that even beyond the madcap baseline for discourse on internet forums, Head-fi also attracts a significantly younger crowd than the more inherently grown-up forums to which I'm accustomed. So, the contributor that comes off like he lives in his mom's basement may indeed...because he's 17. I unwittingly walked into the inside joke on Purrin's Explorer thread over there before following up on my Changstar invitation, so delighted to connect the dots and wind up here.

Although I haven't been as drawn in at CA, clearly the level of discourse there is better there than HF, or at least more grown up. But it's somewhat of an opposite extreme to HF, a bit and reserved and nerdy, and not in the charming eccentric way. It's kind of boring, actually. Epic debates over 192 kHz sampling rates and such notwithstanding. Trying not to take it as a dent to the ego, but there's not one comment on my rather thorough Explorer review there (the second link provided here), even with upwards of 500 views on one of the hottest topics in computer audio (entry-level DACs). Strange.

So I look forward to having an adult swim in the deep end of the pool here, but still anticipate a little splashing. Although, honestly, my next system addition will probably be near-field speakers for my desktop listening station rather than headphones, as well as a decent headamp/preamp as cited in the first link above to unify the headphones and speakers. I like my HD-650s well enough, but I doubt that tripling the price to procure a superior set of cans is going to elevate my desktop listening more than moving over to speakers for about the same investment I made in HD-650.

Yeah. Glad to know that you know where we were coming from. Lots of different opinions here. I think it would be fair to say that most, but not all folks here on CS probably wouldn't like the "organic" (for lack of a better term) sound of Meridian (not just the Explorer, but of Meridian gear in general.) Meridian's been derided as the "Leben (CS300)" of DACs around these parts.

We all have different opinions here, but are laid back about stuff. Questhate has his guilty pleasures with the Grados. I still listen to my wonky W3000s. A few love their Audezes, etc. A lot of folks love their HD800 face tweeters. We just laugh at and among each other with our own shitty tastes and particularities.

Hi. I began this hobby approx. 1.5 years ago.  I came here for many of the reasons already discussed.  Same account on SteveHoffman.

I have the same name and avatar on Head-Fi and Head-Case.
My main reason for being here is to follow the developments of the new HD800 mod.
Mine have the earlier mod that Tyll showed on the Head-Fi video.
If the new mod is an improvement, I plan on updating.
Also, I miss purrin's avatar with the paper roll over on Head-Fi.
