Finally getting around to saying hello. Well it is the rules and sometimes I need to read something in between all amps sound the same and everyone hears different. Is anyone going to Canlanta 2013?
welcome fellow Atlantian!
Sadly, I will not be able to attend, but feel free to make a thread about it.

Hey guys,
I've been lurking about for the past week or two since I grew tired of HF and decided to register here so I can say thanks to all of you knowledgeable folks for providing your no-BS opinion on different audio equipment.  :)p1 This is especially important to me as I am from Hong Kong, where I rarely, if ever, get a chance to audition new stuff. So thanks again!

 ahoy

58 year old headphone fanatic who will try anything from Ipod buds to whatever without being snooty about it.

Favourite headphones at the moment are DT990, K601 and D2000. All quite different but I'm open to all kinds of sounds.

I like a healthy combo of objective/subjective views and talk too much. That's why I'm called Rabbit.   :)p2

ahoy

Ehh... Hi, I guess...

There is certainly a wealth of smilies on this board, but I couldn't find one that is reserved, unsure and shy. Maybe just as well that I couldn't. I feel that way right now, almost intimidated, after reading through most* of what was linked in the first post of this thread, but it is certainly not like me.

Some of you know me from Head-Fi, some may have seen me somewhere else. Then you may have seen that I often speak, or rather write, somewhat loud and authoritarian, like I'm right and I know it. This is a bad habit of mine that stems from my hate of being wrong, which made me very careful - you could say meticulous - hence I ended up actually being right, nearly always. Now I've gotten quite a lot more self-confident and that brought speaking a lot more, also on things on which I'm actually not that sure. I try to keep track of when I know things and when I don't, and explicitly state which it is at all times, but I do mess up sometimes.

Here, on this particular board, I feel I have to be extra careful. If I start preaching that I'm right then please say stop. I will stop, this is a shortcoming of mine that I'm fully aware of - most of the time. But not all the time, so if I'm stating an opinion or a belief like it is a fact, or if I'm just plain wrong: I probably don't see it myself, so please just point it out for me.

Oh man. I hope it's not a faux pas to get all deep and personal in an introduction.  facepalm

You may also have noticed that I often frequent the forums I'm on in quite short, intense and far-between periods. Do not ever think I'm really gone, it's only temporary, though it may be a couple of years sometimes.  :&

I'll try to lurk a little more before posting more here, I only came here today, as a result of the interesting comparison between the Schiit M&M and the JDS Labs O2 & ODAC. More than a little love at first sight. Everyone I recognized on that thread is among those I actually respect on Head-Fi...  :)

Anyway, I'm known as O8h7w, here and everywhere else on the vast internet. In real life I happen to be located in Sweden, more precisely in Uppsala, where I attend the University in an attempt to get a grip on materials science.

Cheers / O8h7w   (hm, no smiley for that either)

* I did not read the 46-page article about law and order among pirates. I'm likely to read such an article if it happens to be in the field of sound science, computer science or materials science, but not sociology. I can barely handle that language. I also read just the first one or two pages in the longer of the threads in the soapbox. Finally, I have yet to read the books mentioned in one of those threads, even though the first of them has been on my ought-to-read-list for several years already.

Should have added a TL;DR: Hi guys, don't mind me, unless you do. Does that make sense? :P Take it easy if I don't, then I will. :)

Maybe, maybe, time for bed. It's half past midnight over here. G'night // O8h7w
