Welcome Justin.  You'll find both music and philosophy enthusiasts here.

Kirosia, methinks you have described the plot to a cancelled tv series.

I couldn't figure a better place to ask this basic question but so forgive me but uhh... how exactly do the karma and the star system work?

I wouldn't worry too much about the system. That's not what you're here for anyways!  :P

Kirosia, methinks you have described the plot to a cancelled tv series.

Who exactly do you think you are, with this accusation? Some forlorn pie baker who plays detective on his off-days?

We like having fun.  Karma is part of that and will continue be until someone ruins it.  Stars are for level (swabbie, ABS, etc).  We don't take that stuff too seriously though.  I know a guy who got in an argument with his wife and she called him out on his BS and he remembers yelling at her "how could you say that to me?! Don't you know I'm an admin on an online forum!"  He didn't realize until that point how caught up in his own carefully constructed online pompousness he was.  At the end of the day we're all sitting on keyboards typing until we logoff and have to live in jecklin floats reality.

If you want karma, go to a strip club.

Name's Jaye, and I work in a godless gift shop circumferenced around Niagara Falls. Headphones drown out the clucking of stray fowls outside my trailer window. And I profoundly profess a dislike for porcelain bovine.

Is it okay if we keep it Kirosia for the sake of us being used to you being Kirosia given you are Kirosia as you have made it known to us, netizens that your name on the net, particularly certain websites is simply Kirosia for you choose the name to be known by to be 'Kirosia'?

If you prefer 'Jaye' feel free to mention that...

Arrr, I forgot to introduce myself in this thread it seems. Pox on me.
So, hello there and all that. ahoy

Being the pirate is like being balanced on a point of a blade, between objective and subjective. Those that do not keep the balance get cut.
That's why I like applying objective methods to quantify the subjective and subjective methods to evaluate objective quantities. (or, if you will, algorithms)
Obviously, we can then apply statistics to turn subjective evaluations into objectivity if our sample size is large enough and varied enough (which can be also quantified objectively).
This is why we need more pirates. (and possibly kittens)

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been into the headphone hobby for about a year. Like others I started off reading head-fi and made many disappointing purchases based on "head-fi hype". I started viewing this site mostly for headphone measurements to better understand what I was hearing. Funny enough I have many headphones that have been measured here. I consider myself somewhere in between the objective and subjective. Some of my headphones don't measure well and I still enjoy them.
