Ohps! Seems like I rushed my way into posting here, hein?

Completely ignored this thread for quite some time, funny formal introduction, lol.

Well I'm a 24 old kid from Portugal, what brings me is my current weird obsession with headphones and my love for music and sound art.
I don't consider myself an audiophile but somehow I find myself spending a lot of my free time reading through hordes of headphone related websites... it's a bit unsettling...
Of course it helps that I have an interest in general audio as I have the ambition of having a word to say in the sonic arts world - I would like to become a sound artist, but right now this idea seems a bit naive to me...

The information resources in this forum are the real magnet for my interest, though.
The measurements and subjective sonic correlation, unbiased and non hyped sonic descriptons I read here somehow make me feel like I can trust you guys for some actual information.

Of course I have lots of other interests besides audio, I consider myself a cinephile, I love reading good fiction books, poetry, theatre (yes I read rather than watch theatre), I love to play chess at chesscube.com (I haven't been able to log in for like 2 months on that damn site! anyone?), I also like to spend some time alone slowly modifying a GMP 400, not sure until when I'll keep on doing it but I always find something in it's sound that I don't like... I feel it irks the music... and back I am to audio.
Again this weird obsession with headphones.  :-Z

Right now I'm jobless and do nothing as things on Portugal aren't going very well.
We'll see what the future brings on...

Right now I just want to enjoy my music so here I am.

Howdy pirates!

Yeah, I guess so...

If I had the money and more experience with headphones I would be able to say if there was some actual information or not, lol.
Anyway, IMO, the GMPs 4x0 series aren't going to get out of their obscurity hole without an enclosure revamp...

Howdy pirates!

Welcome to the forum. You seem to really get what we're about here, ie. not just measurements but also subjective impressions that aren't too hyped. Measurements are a good way of establishing a common ground and safe-guarding against BS, but no one here claims you should or shouldn't like something based on how it measures. People have different tastes. But by the same token, sharing impressions becomes pointless pretty quickly if there's no common ground. You'd think this was obvious, but the subjectivist v. objectivist "feud" still causes so much drama in this hobby, and EFF tends to get mistakenly lumped in with the objectivist camp by some folks. Go figure.

Anyway, enjoy your stay!

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

Howdy all. I've been lurking here for a while. I found out about this place from InnerFidelity and signed up at first so I could see the FR and CSD plots and get a feel for the community.

I like how you pirates roll. Maybe I'll hang out here more often.

I see quite a few familiar faces (names?) here. You might know me from Head-Fi. I'm here for much the same reason a lot of you are--sometimes the BS that goes on over there is too much, and every now and again I need a nice, healthy dose of objectivity (or at least well-supported subjectivity).

I believe in measurements, despite the inherent difficulty in measuring headphones vs speakers. Like purrin said in the Neutrality post, headphone measurements are still in their infancy. Even still, I believe there's a lot to be gathered from measurements, provided we know a) how to interpret them, and b) what we're looking for.

I'm constantly learning about this stuff (didn't even know about CSD plots until I came here) and am under no illusions that I know it all--it's folks like purrin, RD, LFF, and so many others whose posts and knowledge have already taught me a lot.

I may not post too often. But that's probably a good thing, since there are a lot of folks here with way more experience than me. But if I've got something I think adds to the discussion, I'll chip in.

I'm new as well. Not much to say, but the waterfall graphs seem to be particularly useful. After being here, I probably won't find myself buying any Ultrasone headphones nor any Beyer tesla headphones.

Still looking for my end game high end closed headphones
Currently have my ATH-W1000X and DACport. Comfortable and not fatiguing but I'm looking for a different sound.

Hi everyone -

I thought I'd introduce myself before I get postin' here on the forums. My name is Justin and music and philosophy are my two biggest passions in life. I am most interested in expanding my knowledge, branching out into new areas of music and enjoying myself while I do it. I look forward to interacting with all of you and learning the pirate ways.  ahoy

Name's Jaye, and I work in a godless gift shop circumferenced around Niagara Falls. Headphones drown out the clucking of stray fowls outside my trailer window. And I profoundly profess a dislike for porcelain bovine.
