Honestly, I take a longer time trying to pull in forward than I do backing in or parallel parking. I park faster/straight as a fucking arrow when I back in since I have the use of my mirrors. My brain is just wired all funky. I'm probably safer to the world backing in since I'm no longer half stupid.

Yeah you should seek immediate help for that. Drive past spot, engage reverse, double back and in. Do you really do that at a busy Mall with lots of traffic in the Bay area? I can't imagine not getting shot for that.

Apparently you haven't parked much in the bay area. In just about every parking lot, it seem to take 4 hours for someone to back out of a spot and 4 hours to front into a spot. It's absurd.

So you would prefer 8 hours backing into a spot? I've seen all I need to see in the Bay area. :P

Parking a car backwards can be less hassle due to steering the following wheels one can go into tighter spaces with single maneuver.
For this to work as intended one needs a male brain (many girls have it) and experience with their car's dimensional perception.

I do it a lot, so call me a  poo hole. I can get faster out from the parking lot too.

I wouldn't in a busy parking lot. What idiot would do that?

That being said, having a kid and enjoying our sanity, the wife and I avoid all malls and busy places 99% of the time.

This thread fascinates me - here everyone backs into parking spots. Thais are not the best drivers but our parking slots are crazy small and the roadway between them so narrow/tiny it'd be more difficult going in forwards. I guess it's what you're used to and your building design codes.

But thank you for the warning, when I drive in the US i'll remember not to back in to my slot!

Clearly the solution is for everyone to just drive Smartcars... if you still can't park, you can practically push them into the space.
