So Currawong, what makes you put the 009 on the list, and include the LCD-2 and HD800 but not the 007?

The only time I had the 007s here for any period of time was with the 007t amp, which isn't a good match. At the time what struck me about the O2s was the detail retrieval. With the 4070s I happened to be listening to Jeff Buckley and it moved me to tears, which is rare.

Very likely my feelings had much to do with system synergy and what I was listening to at the time that my impressions were so notable. I don't doubt that it's possible to set up a bunch of different headphone and equipment combinations that would make vocals glorious. Various Audio Technica cans seem to be good at that, for example.

Man I've got to get a pair of the 4070s. Looking at them I find it hard to believe they wouldn't compromise the Lambda's strengths and add some closed enclosure weaknesses in the low/high ends, but every time they're discussed on the forums there's only praise.

making slight change here.

1. AKG 240DF/ Sextetts LP

2. Stax/SA5000

3. ?

4. ?

5. ?

reason for the change is cause after months of not use and stored away in it's original box in a dresser drawer i decided to take it out and hook it up directly to outputs of my H/K 770 dual-mono power amp, fired up and was like ''???, wtf? i don't remember these sounding this good''. even after all this time the sextetts still manages to floor me with their midrange tonality.

Maybe I'll have to check out a pair of these then.  I don't know much about all the different versions though.  Which one do you have and/or which one should I look for.

i have the LP's. not sure what driver though but since it's lp model i do not have the sextetts with the ''reflective'' dome cause they're 2 different sextett drivers. the older models(EP,MP) usually had the reflective dome driver while the LP models didn't. only way to know is take the protective casing off which i am seriously edgy to do since these are my only pairs. only thing i did was recabled mine balanced(4-pin xlr) and replaced the rotted foam with some well measured out rolls of R-19 fiberglass i made.
