LOL! Guy don't wanna talk to me no more (dude confused me with castleofargh in his last reply):

 :'(

I usually try not to call stuff like that. But the bullshit flows strong with this one. Specially the part about throwing away measurements and related stuff when it did't fit. This guy apparently has a lot of pull. Even then I removed at one point a reply... But the BS is non-stop. I actually don't understand the need for it. I found his DAP mediocre, but it's not horrible.

1) "The end result is that the PonoPlayer is the only portable player to date that will drive virtually any headphone to satisfying levels, regardless of impedance or sensitivity, without the need for an external headphone amplifier, especially when used in balanced mode."

Even without touching anything else in his posts...did he just not read Tyll's review? A huge chunks of the review were essentially required to compensate for the Pono's 3.27 ohm impedance.

"Blind Testing with Multi-Balanced Armature Driver In-Ear Monitors" had to be there to explain to people that their high sensitivity (and often high cost) BAIEMs that they purchased for portable use won't sound the way that they expect out of the device.

"Recommended Headphones for the Pono Player" exists precisely because the impedance and sensitivity of the headphone & device matter so much to getting a reasonable pairing. "Regardless of impedance or sensitivity", my left nut.  walk the plank

Yes. I feel Charley actually knows whats up with his product, but sort of plays dumb and purposedly misleads potential costumers. This sort of stuff is not new or unheard off, but his toblerone speak is just too much.

Like I said, the BS does not stop with this guy: http://www.innerfidelity.com/comment/498623#comment-498623

It is what it is. I would say this: If you want to know what you are buying before you actually buy it, best to read Tyll's and JA's reviews and skip this guy's jedi mind tricks. If you like what you purchased, then obviously keep it and life is good. There are IMO better products out there for less or roughly equivalent $ though including an iPod, an iPad mini, or perhaps one of those Sansung thingys. Some folks here might have other suggestions depeding on needs and preferences if a warmer or perhaps more engaging signature fits the bill.

But Definitively. Do not. Drink. Charley's kool-aid.

LOL! Towards the end of his post though, I think I get a glimpse of why EQ and other features were not implemented and will not be implemented:

"... adding EQ would require DSP hardware that does not exist in the PonoPlayer. There is no room for it and it would decrease battery life."

In the end it's probably the design philosophy that lead to this (fully discrete components perhaps). Is not wrong, but you gotta be upfront about it.

You mean like colors, the Codex, and $100k systems? Right...

How about the option of finding another name that LFF didn't use first?

If Charles Hansen workes in sales or PR he is doing a very bad job.

"Also at Ayre we strongly believe in not offering options.", lifted from Ultrabike's previous post.

His apologies were as void as the hot air my kettle produces when I cook water. Rule 1 in external communications: know your audience.

To treat potential customers as dumb people is not a good way to pitch your product or service. He simply did that...

BTW, I asked Charles about different chassis options (instead of the yellow plastic fragile stuff). Said no cannot do...
