How many ticks do you guys have the headband set at? I do 3 or 4 (from the shortest width)

6-7 each side. Goldilocks skull?

I find that clamp has not affected sound for me, and that positioning is not that crucial. I find positioning matters with the HD 600, so I experimented with the Jan / OJ method and compared to ear-in-center. I found no appreciable difference and stopped caring a lot about it. They usually end up slightly forward on my head, with no contact to the back of my ears, but that is out of comfort more than anything else.

7 from both sides, if taken account the first 'half-click'.

Thoughts on the HD800 for thrash metal? Thinking I'll pick them up despite my pea sized head.

Upstream synergy matters a lot. Do you get good bass response for your head size and seal with the 800 now? I worry about brightness on poorly mastered tracks with a bad seal forcing u to crank it making things even brighter.
