I'm very happy with a Mad Dog. I use it at work 4-5 hours at a time (8 on good days.  :money: ) with basically no fatigue. I'm using a DX50 via lineout into a Schiit Lyr (with 1980 Voskhod Rockets). I did have to tube roll for a bit to find some good synergy though.

I recently held the NYC area meet and had the opportunity to have an extended time with LFFs Enigmas, Enigmatics, and Slants. I honestly didn't want to let the Enigmas go when I had to send them back. I preferred them over the Slants, Enigmatics, Alpha Dogs, Thunderpants, and ZMF x Vibros and in some ways the Alpha Primes. I liked that they were non-fatiguing, warm, with an interesting presentation. They had the best sound stage and imaging of all the mentioned headphones. I could listen to them for hours.

I have the Alpha Primes and I want to love them. Some music sounds great - fantastic really. I get lost in the music and forget I'm listening to headphones. Other music sounds like crap with too much glare. I ended up adding the felt doggie treat pads to tame them enough to be listenable. Moving around the dots didn't help enough or changed the sound in a way that wasn't to my liking. I had the Alpha Dogs and I feel like the glare is worse with the Primes. I never had fatigue with them. Maybe I'm being overly critical. Maybe they are voiced to be super "detailed" (or resolve better) and the upper mids are way too extended. I'm not sure what it is... but I want people to be warned. Are they worth $1k? It's hard to say.

Pity to hear this, as it seemed to be one of the primary issues with the AD. I've been waiting to hear a bit more about this headphone, along with some measurements at some point, hopefully. What do you feel is better about the AP vs. the AD? Is it just detail retrieval, or is there more to it?

Sound-stage, imaging, and detail retrieval would be the three things off the top of my head. I'm going to keep these for a bit, but I might end up going back to the Dogs or just go with Enigmas -- which is what I should really do. ;)

By the way, I didn't mention this... I didn't like the Enigmatics at all. They had that same glare, but it was worse than even the Primes.

That's too bad. My only experience with MrSpeakers is with the Mad Dog 3.2. It seems like I hear very little about the Pro. If it adds to the 3.2 an expanded soundstage and increased dynamics - improvements gotten from the development of the AD - then the Pro could represent a sweet spot. Of course, a lot of the sweetness would depend on how resolving the Pro is. Is there anyone who will sing its praises?  :)p3

beyerdynamic DT250-250 ?

One of very few the truly 'flat' headphones out there (tonally).
Treble part isn't as refined as say HD600/HD650 and some of them have some imbalance issues between channels.
Clamping force is a bit on the high side but other than those things they sound pretty good (totally not closed-in sounding).

Hey Mullet - do you recall which of the LFF cans you had initially set up at your station (I think they were purple). I listened to those and liked them quite a bit. Cannot recall if those were the Slants or the Enigmas (pretty sure they were not the Enigmatics). I was so short on time at the Meet that I sadly did not listen to all of those cans. I just grabbed a quick listen to whatever you had already set up at the start of the meet.I want to say it was the Slants though.

I believe I had the Enigmas set up. They were the dark reddish purple ones. The Enigmatics were bluish purple. The Slants were the pinkish ones with :)p10 :)p10 :)p10 on them. Yeah I wouldn't mind getting my hands on Enigmas eventually.

The enigma web site says the slants weigh 96oz. Is that right? That is 2721g! Even the Audeze LCD-XCs weigh only 650g. 96oz is 6 lbs. Do they really weigh that much?
