There's no mention of voltage, just that it ships with a N-American plug.

There's the usual mention of Windows/Mac, but no mention of USB Audio Class compatibility. Must be safe, therefore, and assume it may well not work with Linux. Or 220V.

110/220V Power options are selectable at checkout. Sorry, I don't use Linux so can't vouch for compatibility there. As for audio class, do you mean if you can use it on USB 2.0 and 3.0? If so, then yes to both. If not, let me know exactly what you mean and I'll check with the manufacturer.

So Luis.  Can you compare some notes versus the ODAC?

Sure.

I like the MSD192 more.

Thanks. Did it say that on the main screen? I might have missed. if not, I suggest that you add.

No, USB Audio Class is different to USB 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 etc. I can't explain coherently (If one of the more technical members can, I'd love to see an in-a-nutshell explanation of this) but if a DAC is class-compliant, it (as far as I understand it) means it it plug and play. It just works. Drivers may be optional, or it may need them for higher sample rates than Windows supports natively, but it should function --- on Windows, Linux, Mac --- because it simply does USB Audio as defined by the USB standards folks.

Class 1 or class 2 (not USB 1.0 or 2.0) will determine maximum sample rate.

Lack of any class compliance, and an absolute need to install drivers, means it's a no-go for Linux. Probably.

E&OE --- Errors and ommissions expected; Corrections welcome

Someone on Massdrop asked if this is the same as the Questyle CAS192 Mini. I had never heard of the CAS192 Mini and it's not a current product for them, I assume since it's not on their website.

But it sure looks exactly the same as the MSD192.

Maybe @LFF can open it up and see if it's the same on the inside as this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Questyle-CAS192-Mini-WM8741-192KHz-24Bit-USB-DAC-HiFi-Pure-Audio-Decorder-/181281759243

I guess it doesn't really matter since I could not find many reviews of the Questyle CAS192 Mini.

Good call. Wonder if it's some sort of OEM design or if the CAS192 is a re-badged product (or vice versa)?

Not to state the obvious... but in the specs section it does say:

Produced by Mousai
Designed by Questyle

Umm yeah, I guess I missed that! Sorry about that.

So I wonder why Questyle stopped making them. Maybe their Q192 replaced it.

$300 is a lot better than $650...

Anyone compare the MSD192 to the Geek Out?

Class 1 uses the USB "Full Speed" 12mbit spec. Class 1 USB DACs are supported out of the box on Win, OSX, and Linux, but only to 24/96. You can go higher than that via Class 1, but you will need a driver to do so on all three OSes. Linux driver support is pretty limited outside of M2Tech Hiface interface.

Class 2 uses the "High Speed" 480mbit spec and can go up to 32/384. OSX and Linux support it natively, so Class 2 DACs should be plug and play on both OSes. Windows annoyingly still has no native support, so a driver is required. It would be nice if they got with the program in Windows 10, but I'm not holding my breath.
