EDIT: LFF, do you think this DAC a decent choice in the sub-1000 dollar price range? Is your memory clear enough to tell if it's approximately the same resolution as the DA8? Also, It's not balanced, is it?

Well, those who know me around here know that I would never write a review about something I dislike. Is this the best DAC evar? No. That said, it's a damn good DAC for not much money and it so happens that it puts out clean, neutral sound.

I'm going to post to see if specific recommendation for HD800 but I think I'll try this DAC out. It sounds like what I want!

Thanks for the review  :)

I'll have to compare it to the UberBiFrost once I ship out all this other gear.

A good Wolfson DAC + minimum phase filtering has often been one of my favorite sigma-delta DAC combos. I'm curious exactly what sort of filter/OS method they're using. I liked the low-ringing options like 2x or 4x MP filtering on the Audio-GD I have (and the matching MP filter on Gamma2).

It's actually going live tomorrow! Thanks to Luis for the review and confirming it's not  poo

Retail on the DAC was pretty high, but we have a relationship with the manufacturer and it looks like we're going to be able to offer it at below the $400 tag we originally expected.

Thanks for letting me listen to it for so long.

I was a real fan of it's neutral transparency. At under $400, this is quite a deal!

Yeah! It's awesome that this sub-$400 DAC is just as good, if not better than other standalone DACs costing 3-4 times more.  Very cool in my book.
