SF Bay Area meet summed up in one pic
« on: February 17, 2014, 10:32:52 PM »

Other meet highlights:
  • Anax telling Audio DNYA that all of his setups made everything sound like MP3s. He indignantly kept saying it was all high quality WAV until... whoops, he realized the whole collection was 256Kbps compressed. Bonus: When he sat down, Anax turned to Audio DNYA and said "I'm ready to hear the BA killer now!"

  • CEE TEE's coworker absolutely rocked the front desk. Apparently nerds have no defense against a cute church girl guilting them into donating. "Oh, I don't need any tickets, I won't be here for the raffle" kept coming up to which she replied "It costs a lot of money to run an event like this. You should really consider donating" along with a guilt inducing look. Nerds were devastated.

  • Quest and I put "The Voice Season 3" disc on Marv's speakers as a joke and a bunch of randoms walked in as I was doing it. I was so embarrassed I switched to Buena Vista Social Club and pretended like I put the Voice CD on by accident because I couldn't figure out how to use the computer.

  • A vendor was telling purrin and I about how all the HF members think Changstar is a terrible place and we hate HF. I couldn't help but reply with "Would we drop $2500 to run this meet if we hated HF?"

  • Purrin and anax kept joking about Craig's love of Carla Bruni. Sure enough, that was the only CD at his table.

  • El fucking Metate. Yes, Marv, we have real Mexican food in Northern California, too.

Is that a 400i with new style headband that I see?

Hm actually it looks like a butchered old-style hifiman headband.

Nvm found out it was a variation of the paradox.

Man, looks like I missed a good one.  You guys seemed to have had a lot of fun.  Interested to hear more about LFF's Enigma and the new Craig gear.

It was a real treat spending some time with LFF's top secret project (and hearing him share a few of his remasters!) and hearing purrin's open baffle speakers.

Thanks for lending your AVVTs, Tari. Hearing them in the BA was one of my favorite experiences at the meet.

Finally had a chance to glance through AMBs pictures. Wow... I want, I want, I want...

Ragnarok looks fantastic. Can't wait to try one. Jason seemed to indicate it was more or less final and mostly waiting for metal. How did it sound, anyone pair with balanced HD800s?

The new 2A3 from Craig looked great too. So jealous.

UE PRM tuning box.. hopefully get to play around with one of these if I go to RMAF.

Oh and WTF CEE TEE, you must have rented a moving truck to get all that stuff there. And it must have taken a full hour just to set yours and UEs booth up. You crazy.
