I really like the new looks of these. will look goofy as fuck when worn probably but what headphones don't!
really tempted to hear these. if they have a bit more upper mids or w/e I forgot what I didn't QUITE LIKE about these, I might have my endgame phones right here?! I like the HE-500 that much.

Kudos to Fang for reducing the weight. Hopefully sq isn't compromised as a result. I'm not feeling the look of these cans though. Goofy and cheap are fitting descriptors imo. Shame they've persisted with the existing connectors.

I think it's just the angle of that photo. The headbands look much better here, certainly IMO less amateur-looking than the older style, away with the logo knobs that are prone to snapping off (Marv should know that better than most people):

I dunno the new headband and gimbals are pretty amateur looking to me.

Still it looks like it's hip to be square lately.

I dunno the new headband and gimbals are pretty amateur looking to me.

If it's less fragile than the previous version (which likes to snap off where the logo is) I'm all for it. The only thing, like you mentioned, is the plastic yokes look pretty shitty, but if they are durable plastic and also help reduce the weight, I'm more than okay with that.

Also there is zero doubt this headband will be way more comfy than the prior version. I know because I bought a leather suspension strap from GREQ on H-Fi, that is much slimmer / less well-formed than this, and that already gave the comfort a substantial boost relative to just the Beyer headband cushion attachment.

All in all if the looks are all that you hate the new headband for, I don't have much more to say other than that it improves upon practical aspects (durability/weight/pressure ergonomics) and that's fantastic.

Funny, I did a google image search for Hifiman HE6 to do a comparison of old and new and found a picture of @numbersixx pretty high on the results  :)p1

So, is there any indication regarding how easy/hard these are to drive?

The main thing holding me back from an HE-500 purchase is having to dump more money into an amp to drive them reasonably well.  If these new models are less demanding...
