Brand new planar magnetic cans from Oppo look slick.

Looks like the ortho train that derailed in the 80s are picking up again.

I hope they are better than their transports.  Not a fan, though I guess you could do worse.

Analixus:

Best stuff of the show:  Vali, Asgard II, Fostex TE05, Geek, Vanatoo, Lau, Teton, LcdX ($800 too much though), dBel's LCD3 modded.  Sanders and Venture speakers.

Mediocre/hyped:  Senn amp, Auralic (overly bright and analytical), JDS portable DAC/amp, Pinnacle, Violectric, Sony and Fostex Desktop players/gear (liked Fostex's stuff better than Sony's), WA7 Fireflies (better w/ PS upgrade but not enough to beat certain Schiit on SQ alone).  Focal pretty much all around (headphones, speakers, headphone amps).

Worst stuff:  JBL room, Fostex prototype ortho, Westone's new universal IEM connectors other people are also using (they almost lost 4 earpieces), BMC, Aurisonics, Audeze DSP (best used in bypass mode, meaning not at all), RSA A10.

Honorable mention: Ray Samuel's Boulder 1021 CD transport

Pretty decent: RHA 750 (Fostex TE05 kills it though), Phillips headphones, Woo WES and Monoblocks (not even as bad as some competitor lunatic fanboys say).

Best of my show - hanging out with pirates, seriously guys, just awesome.

Vali is a killer, such goodness in a tiny package should be illegal. Geek was another shocker for me, it should not sound that good - just incredible. I spent some time with the light harmonica and it was enlightening to hear how much more resolution it had relative to the cantata ( which I personally love ) CT's box of tricks was another fun experience, overall I think UE had the range best suited to my preferences.

speakers - didn't see too much as I spent most time in CANJAM but the SELAH "gamechanger" http://www.selahaudio.com/id296.html was just mind blowingly good. ( they did cheat and used the otavo's http://www.selahaudio.com/id299.html bass drivers to fill in as subs )

most rooms reaffirmed my previous notion that these guys are db deaf ( high SPL ) and tone deaf - lots of muddy bass blurring lower mids and very sharp upper mid/highs . But some real characters too, Steve Rochlin was like the duracell bunny.

Ditto!  Had a great time w/ dBel, CT, Anetode, his buddy Mike, Bear FNF, John (Mr. Fritz speakers), Frank I, Justin, Asr/Steve, Jack Woo, Alex Cavalli, Jason Stoddard, Mike Moffat, Pete and Todd, John Saeber, Jerry Harvey, Vincent+Matt @ UE, the Westone guys and gal, Uncle Wilson, Gavin @ Light Harmonic, Hifiguy, Warren, Jude, Joe (who works his ass off) and anyone I forgot.  That was a great time, too bad it doesn't happen more often.   :money:

O yeah, Tyll was there too.  Whatever.... ::)
