Definitely SLogic baffle.  Claimed EMF shielding, SS and SPL enhancement.

the difference today is that we have thinner materials
Not valid actually... Yamaha had 6 micron layers, and I do not think it is beaten today. I suspect LCD-3 match this, but doubt it is thinner. LCD-2 is pretty thick, I think it is 12.

I think he meant thinner per comparable material properties like tensile strength / rigidity.

One thing I forgot to pimp: http://www.dspeaker.com/en/products/20-dual-core.shtml

I kept an eye out for a cheaper alternative to DEQX and this 1100$ box delivers it. Room correction, digital & analog in/out, calibrated mike with measurement output for REW and the like, 32 para eqs, crossover, tone controls, good interface and quality volume control. I'll probably pick it up by the end of the year.

I'll make sure to post some measurements once I get it running, ultrabike

The simpli-fi room had a neat demo hosted by its engineer. Incidentally I was in the room with one of the guys from positive feedback, so the music selection sucked, but the designer was still very straightforward in answering technical questions. He's a mastering engineer by trade so this is a very function-oriented design. I like those, that's why I love the Lavry controls. Still the DSPeaker's display + remote combo is way more convenient. Also the digital output option on a DEQX is about a grand or two extra, fuck that!

Yup, all things in the kilo-buck territory are hard for me to justify to myself. However, that DSPeaker deal seems plenty feature rich and it is much more reasonably priced. I wish they could make a more modest and moderately priced version of it.

My current options in the long run are the Behringer DEQ2496, DCX2496, or perhaps the miniDSP deal since those agree more with my wallet and I can take certain compromises, but I would definitely like to hear your thoughts on the DSPeaker.

The DSPeaker boxes are great. The subwoofer correction versions are cheaper than some of the manufacturer made ones like Paradigms PBK, and they are more effective as well. I still prefer to use physical room treatment first, but I don't think you can go wrong there.
