The L05QD are probably 'bout the same as the UERM in Japan, but since you'll be going through a distributor for overseas orders, I imagine it would be more expensive after it's all said and done. They've only just started taking overseas orders through JM Plus (in Taiwan), so I'd wait a bit to make sure the growing pains are worked out first.

On the subject of new universal IEMs, the most hyped right now is probably the Shure SE846 ($1k). A lot of the technology they tout sounds impressive, but so far I'm not sure 'bout the ratio of marketing BS to genuine good sound. Sony has a new hybrid coming out called the H3, designed by the dude who made the EX1000, priced at around $300-ish IIRC. I'm actually excited about that one along with Sony's upcoming anniversary Walkman (glad I held off on the AK120...).

One of the big things in IEMs this fall will be six driver universals. Like I said, the trend of stuffing more and more drivers into things marches onward. EarSonics released a universal version of their S-EM6 six driver, and there's another six driver universal coming soon by a CIEM veteran's new company. I actually have the EarSonics one, and I'm rather fond of it so far. A laid back mid-centric type of sound.

There was supposed to be a new model from this obscure Chinese company called Widing, the ME10DX (successor to the EX which James444 reviewed on head-fi, and Rin wrote about as well). However the manufacturer has been busy doing other stuff apparently, and the launch has been delayed until who knows when.

I mostly talk about music there. Weird.

I've connected Fostex about possibility of resurrection T50 ortho driver about a 1.5-2 years ago. Unfortunately, the manager I've talked to have a weird tendency to disappearing for a half a year. So it did not work out. However I wonder, if there is any connection between this events.. p:8

I think Fostex are definitely aware of the T50RP's explosion in popularity and the mod scene that has been built up around it. I remember reading they were going to increase production specifically for Mr Speakers, though I don't know if there's any truth to that. I do know people go up to their reps all the time with modded T50RPs and make them listen LOL.

With the success of the TH900 and the popularity of orthos now, I think it's only natural for Fostex to get back into the high end ortho game. Orthos aren't as popular in Japan as they are in the West these days, so I think Fostex has been cautious.

oh yeah I saw the Sony H3 on HF, and the SE846 as well. a guy I know who works at an audio store here has bought a pair. should try to meet up and give it a listen. he loves it, which seems promising. think his review was featured on HF front page as well.

very curious about the H3 but everything points to it being a rather U or V-shaped FR, though I have no idea what I read really. I would be a bit surprised if EX1000 designer did that.

what was said about the Widing? I never heard of that one, should do a google search.

I'm interested to hear more about the Fischer Audio TBA-04.  I've always had a soft spot for that company (and having owned virtually anything that's noteworthy of their).  I like the unorthodox design of the TBA (one full range BA, two complimentary).. and it's not trying to be a successor to the famed DBA-02.

I'm very curious about the new Daedalus "V2" speakers. They will be there with the Ulysses V2, again with ModWright components, including their upcoming Elyse tube DAC. Empirical will also be back again with Vapor Sound, this time the Nimbus White, and custom Arte-Forma amps.
Should be good stuff.

I really want to go to RMAF now that I live in Colorado, but it's hard to do anything during the day since I work 3rd shift and keep a consistent sleep schedule. :(

I wish I could be there to hear the Teton.  I know the price tag is putting a lot of folks off, but I'm still interested to hear how it sounds, especially considering it's lineage.

@Cee Tee, I expect a full report!  :)p3
