Not a problem! I had no need for it while I was here in Texas. Figured I might as well share the love with you guys for a bit. You didn't seem to like it as much as marv, but that's totally ok. Nothing wrong with some differing viewpoints. You both explains your impressions well.

I know Anax's priorities and I had a strong feeling he would stick with the PWD2/Denon combo. We both tend to really like the resolution, sparkle, air, separation, articulation of the sigma-delta DACs - and are unwilling to part with that - even if we have to deal with a little bit of that raspy digital stuff. (Just a little, since we also both detest the typical "Sabre" treble thing.) And again, I've never liked the classic ladder or NOS DACs.

With the M7 coax vs. PWD2-i2s  - for me, it was also close. Could have gone either way, and I would have probably stuck with the PWD2 just out of convenience. I2S pushed the M7 to another level - along with a USB connection mod (filter and cut +5V) mod to the OR5. The biggest difference between the two was the "blackground". The M7 coax was just much less black than the PWD2-i2s.

S1 almost convinced me to buy a Vega so we could do a comparison.

There's also the German and the Swede entries - T+A DAC8 and Primare DAC 30. The T+A uses PCM1795s and the Primare has the CS4398. Neither are my favorites by any stretch, but I'm still curious about them.

Yeah, keeping my wallet closed until I get some time with either. The Vega was interesting from a technology standpoint :)

Plus, someone was selling one for $3100 on audiocircle and I figured I could recover a significant part of that if expectations weren't met.

Forgive me if this was already answered but what 'oversampling' setting did you utilise on the M7? Or none at all? It does have that switch for adjusting oversampling rate right?

Just the default x8. I haven't tried NOS mode yet.
