If I could find a shell for cheap I'd do it, but I'm not willing to plunk down that much cash for one. Fake studios used to be found for $20-30, but even the Chinese sellers all seem to push around $70 last I checked. At least those Studio fakes are pretty decent though. I've handled some fake Pros before and their build quality was atrocious.

I had that idea when I first saw them but I decided to leave them alone cause the drivers the beats pro use are not bad at I think. After quick mod and listen to realign faults I think of would be quicky figured out fix. The midrange is really wonderful and clear when you fix the minor issues it has with the enclosure. I think the beats pros drivers themselves not bad overall and can be pretty clean and smooth sounding once everything is taken care of.

Only gripe I have with them now after playing with them is I wish that they weren't so insensitive for full sized headphones. I think they are more sensitive than the sa5000 and I considered those really sensitive drivers.  Also just wish the padding on the handband was bit thicker cause when I got them I didn't know what the hell the kid did but these seem pretty worned but overall not too bad where needs replacement just yet. I wish I can take the dents out too but never bothered seeing if the special acrylic\plastic comes off inside.

I can see the encloser being perfect for something like older fostex or other round ortho drivers. Actuall anax should make an hd800 and beats pro hybrid haha. Be great idea I. think. A closed version of the hd800 or open beats.

How did you mod them?

The Studios have a small plastic cover just behind their drivers, which basically takes away any "cup" volume that there may have been. Are the Pros the same way?

Yup. All I did was cut even thickness of fiberglass and threw it in the cups. Very simple mod. I always do very simplistic and reversiable mods if I do any at all. Throwing the fiberglass in the cups cleared everything up. If I had polyfill I would of probably used that instead but I don't so I used just plain pink r19 density fiberglass and seem to work out weell.

Update, cause I was not finish playing with them especially after I got some more polyfill. I not only stuffed some in the cups to help increase openness to the headphones but also experimented layering small square pieces I cut over front of driver. Got not only them bit more open and less closed sounding in the soundstage but also brought out bit extra sub-bass  while maintaining pleasant high frequency extension and bit smoother midrange.overall pretty darn smooth sounding but still doesn't seem as quick in transients say something like stax pros I have.

Only other good thing too out of the modding they seem more comfty on my ears despite the added weight I placed on them from modding. Overall got them far as I could while trying to keep a balanced sound with no to little sacrifices in the response to my ears. All that matters I like how they sound now.

Now your Beats Pro is even more special than the special editions. A headphone for musical delight and bulletproof Beats abuse is now in existence  :)p1

No no no, a Beats special edition is when you paint it black and charge an extra hundred for it.

Plus something like "Detox" on the headband to distinguish you...

Now just have to wait till I get the ok to send them in. After they get measured though, I might be departing them maybe to a friend for a trade for a pair of fostex t50rp since I told him after I get these measured and my balanced 240DF's back from recabling I am gonna limit my collection defiantly especially since I find the modded stax pros despite the work I have to do since the right channel cuts sometimes is pretty much all I need at home and I love my DF's a lot cause they do things somehow other headphones can't in my opinion. The fostex for portable use and as backup cause I really liked how clear and smooth they sounded even with lack of power from my phone.

Just got these today from Rex. I almost hate to say it, but with the mods he did, I like them. They're not accurate in the slightest, but they're a ton of fun to listen to.
