And the polyurethane DT1350 is inferior in durability to the HD25s steel cable.   ;)   Nobody in their right mind is going to defend Monster pricing, though that's a steal compared to Ultrasone's fake build quality when exotic metal names refer to the shade of mylar over the plastic housing.

I could beat someone to death w/ the Beats Pro, not the DT1350.  That is the true measure of quality.  :)) :P

Edit - Agh!! Watching him scratch the aluminum w/ the bit is so painful to watch.

Since we're discussing decent sounding Beats headphones, has anyone else tried the Studio Executive? I tried it during an airport stopover a month ago and was pretty surprised that they sounded quite good compared to an old pair of Beats Studios I have. The Executive series was clearly retuned from the original; the midrange wasn't too recessed anymore and there was some treble sparkle, while the bass wasn't too overwhelming. Just a more balanced sound overall, though it retained a slight V still.

Edit: It was also made of metal.

If course not defending the pricing at all. Like I said I had no idea what the pricing for headphones currently are. For dynamics in general I kind find it rediculous how some companies price their gear. I only find electrostatics should be priced pretty highly and they deserves it cause I most I heard were super duper clean sounding.

But to stay on subject...once again I only wanted to state my opinion on them and once you mod them to bring out the mids more they are really nice. I think monster did a good job on the drivers themselves I just wanted to point out. When I opned them up there was no damping inside whatsoever either. Nothing which probably cause canclation within the midrange spectrum making them recessed but even then they were pretty well clear enough to be easily I heard. I think I had a feeling monster did that on purpose maybe cause they knew they will be used in loud enviourments or it was just absolute pure laziness. Either way I liked them overall.

I have to defend their build though. Only headphone I ever encountered built like capable murder weapons are the old pioneer monitor 10s.

Also I am typing on my phone usually and my touch screen being busted and cracked, its a pain to make corrections to my writing so don't mind me. You can still make fun of me though lol.

Enjoy them...

Your headphones are so bad ass you can hammer your house together with them. A bling bling hammer with stereo sound is truly a dream come true for the audiophile carpenter who wants to dj on the side  :)p2

Lol, I wasn't talking to you Sexy Wexy.   ;)

And I totally agree w/ you on the build.  It's a serious chassis.  Not sure about weight distribution for long term listening.  I often hear people extol the T1 as some super duper quality phone over the HD800s Lexona plastic even though Lexona is lighter, non corrosive , sonically inert, and offers more versatility in shaping an ideal acoustic environment.  The T1 for it's metal still scratches and dings.  The Beats Pro would crush a T1 like a Coke can and possibly not leave a scuff.

ohhh you. always know what to say.

i never held an hd800 in my hands so i have no idea but i will take your word that they're built very solid. the t1 going metal casing probably one the reason for it's horrible performance.

well when i send my pros up to purrin you can give them a try and tell me what you think compared to the stock versions. also letting people know mine is from monster when they still own the beats line up. mine are not the current beats pro detox or pros where beats is away from monster. i heard they did bit of tweaking and i heard supposedly nothing changed sonically with the lineup. don't know. i just want to let people know though that mine are the ones from monster.

i still overall like them more then the k702 tone wise but i guess it depends on my mood. i kinda find them similar in a way to my modded sr-202 tone wise but defiantly not up to level technically with the stax. i like them equally to my sa5000 with vocals and lambda pros. i haven't compared anything to my DF's recently since it's been good while cause my friend offered to rewire them for me for free. it's cool though since i am never in a rush.

well when they get up there you can either say they're not bad or just straight forwardly tell me i am a quack and my hearing is just bad. either way. i understand haha.

I though the studios were consumer suckiness defined. The solos were ear-rapingly bad in a lactose intolerant butt plug kinda way. The pros were, eh, not bad, but at $400 for a head clamping boat anchor on my head...  :-00 I haven't given the Mixrs a chance, because the display models have always been broken.

Hey,hey. Chill. Don't be such a squirting vigina fart. Also you never heard my beats. They been eached with ancient alien technology and specially structured materials for the drivers with pony fairy dust. You know how it goes :-)

I've had this backburner idea for a while now to yank the drivers out of a Studio (or maybe Pro), replace them with a Fostex or maybe a Yamaha ortho driver if I can get one, then replace the noise cancelling circuit with a small amp (I don't know what runs off of 2 aaa batteries these days... the pa2v2?)

I'll be curious to see the measurements of the Pros. There wasn't anything offensive to my ear at first listen (unlike the Studio and Solos), but then again I didn't think there was anything too bad about the K550 on initial listen either (though I vastly preferred the comfort and build of the K550).

You aren't the only one that's had that thought about the Pros.  I just never found a set cheap enough to play with.  The K550 is also a nice chassis.  Needs more headband padding.

As for the HD800, it has quality materials designed for its purpose, dissecting recordings and enjoying music.  It's certainly not weapons grade.
