Having been a mod on a larger forum for many years, I too have watched these progressions as the site deals with growth and the consequences of same.

Some always want it to stay the same, some want/demand it to change, drama ensues, some leave, newbs come in to fill in the numbers.

And so it goes.

This form of communication is fraught with limitations (lack of subtle cues we all 'depend upon' for context) etc.
It's a wonder things don't get out of hand all the more.
And for me the bottom line is it's just words on a screen, with the meaning residing between our ears.

All of this has reminded that we ARE NOT our thoughts.
We are NOT what our egos want others to think of us.

If what this site becomes isn't acceptable, then start one that is.
And experience for yourself the reality behind what it takes to deal with 'personalities' and their attendant egos.

After all these are the origins of this very site and countless others...

So for me, contributing something of value is what I aspire to in terms of the contents of my posts.
It's a hobby and I for one want to maintain that perspective so the fun and sense of discovery and sharing remain.
So when the seriousness gets in the way, since it's just words on a screen, I just ignore it all.

Life is too short and I'm the one who decides what is important, at least for me anyway.

Did you catch a lot of flak for the chinchong thing on the flowchart? I was under the impression that people didn't get ruffled by that.
