Axel Grell vs. Sean Olive would be fun, backhanded corporation-yoked compliments and all. Tyll's Canuckified panel will be far too polite and informative. Tari, you win my (highly consequential) vote for organizing the '15 panel.

That's de-canukified we washed up after shipping Sean off to suck at Harmons corporate tit.

I'll be producing the panels next year.

One, I'm hoping (have tentative agreement already), will include Sean Olive, Floyd Toole, Paul Barton, and hopefully someone like Axel Grell and/or Tetsuro Oishi. So a hard core headphone engineer technical panel.

The other will have Head-Fi/headphone community celebrities. I'll be reaching out to some of you soon. I'm coming to the LA meet in July for that and some other things!

Awesome!

Since when are Sean Olive and Floyd Toole headphone engineers?

For a hardcore headphone engineering panel, I would love to see one comprised with someone from Stax, Sennheiser, beyerdynamic, AKG, Fostex, Audio-Technica, etc.

Okay, you got me...sorta.  Sean Olive is doing a lot of work evaluating headphones right now, and has a lot of information on how often they suck. He's tapping on Floyd's shoulder about some of the stuff.

Still forming ideas though, it's early yet. I promise it'll be interesting, pretty sure I can get an interesting panel together.

Tyll, you could invite the K1000 designer that popped up on HF...

^ That would be good!  I think Amos knows someone at Sony, maybe get the R10 designer.  If still alive....

Maybe.  And I know the current Sony MDR-1R designer.

One step at a time, boys, lotsa thing to organize...there's more to this than panels.

I'm hoping somewhere along the line a disinterested and unbiased authority on acoustics makes it into the fray.

I would but I suspect it's buried in a stack of archived DVDroms. There was a study going on by a bunch of undergrads at either McGill or and don't laugh (I process a boatload of data so specific memory gets left to the archives) Sweden. At any rate the paper hit my radar as it referred specifically to spatial testing and acoustic cues in the form of almost morse like beeps. The fact that they were using headphones was almost incidental to the exercise.

A trip to any higher learning institution you might be near in your travels may in fact turn up something similar.
